That's how many people are furious with this haha
ok, this is what i did, and prior this nothing worked, and after this it works for me:
-enable view hidden folders first
-go to C:\users\your pc username\appdata\local\activision\codwaw\players\profiles
-there you delete everything
-also there you create folder and name it as you wish your profile name is
-create .txt file and name it "active". open that .txt file and in it write name you named that folder before (make sure it is exactly the same)
-then go to game folder, and there right click on codwawmp.exe file and click compatibility tab, click on run as admin (do the same for other .exe file for singleplayer, you HAVE TO do it for both .exe files).
-then start game NOT from steam, but from game folder. but start it like this: right click on codwaw.exe and again click on run as admin.
-now your profile should load, i didn't have to enter cd-key, but if it doesn't work, try it with all this i wrote plus cd-key
This is how I did it on my Windows 7 (64 bit). Go to Control Panel - Folder Options. Under View Tab - Hidden files and folders put a dot in Show Hidden files, folders and drives. Now open My Computer, Drive C.
Go to
C:\Users\YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles
When in the profiles folder, Right Click - New - Folder and name your folder to whatever you want your COD profile to be. In my case, Applepip2001. Now open text file called active (or active.txt) and type in your COD profile name (again Applepip2001 in my case). If when you open the text file it has $$$ in it, delete that before entering your COD profile name.
Now when running World at War or World at War Multiplayer, your profile should exist.
