I believe that you only get one discount per item, this means that it will only be 50% off and I think you should gift the other coupon to someone or give the game away

You only have the option to use one coupon per item in your shopping basket. Most coupons also explictly say on them "Can't be applied with other discounts" which means that either other coupons or sale prices can't stack with it.

There are some coupons that can be used on discounted items, in which case the discounts multiply together - so if your garry's mod coupons don't have the text about them not working with other discounts then if garry's mod was on sale for everyone at 50% off and you had the 50% off coupon then it would be 75% off in all (50% off, then half off the remaining 50%=25% more off the original price), but even in that case you still can only pick one coupon per game.
