I've heard a story that one man once created a bot, that was buying some items from market when they were cheap, and then reselling them for higher price. Soon the owner of the bot was banned and he lost all his items.

So my question is, where can I find any rules about automatic trading or buying items in steam ?

I would think Bots of any kind, used anywhere, would not be acceptable.

Does it give you an unfair advantage over other people? If yes then don't do it.

That's like saying that some kinds of steroids are legal because you saw base ball players using them... that doesn't mean they are legal, just means you saw someone using illegal programs.

KillerB answered that already. I made the part bold and underlined. Each item in the market is considered a "subscription".

There are some excetions. The DOTA2 Dispenser bot for example. I'm sure Valve was monitoring it though.

Omg, Im not talking about market, Im talking about trades, about TF2 trading or DOTA2 trading, there are a lot of such bots.
Nobody told me anything about such bots in this theme, so I think there isnt any rule covering this part, so they are totally legal.

"trading or buying items in steam" looks like you are talking about both.

I suggest being more clear in the future.

I would say more of a grey area. They probebly won't do anything, but if it is abused or gets out of hand, they may step in and stop it.
