Some Games Not Working in Big Picture on TV?
Hello,

I have been having this problem for some time now. I have a 52" Sony Bravia LCD TV which I have connected to my PC via an HDMI cable.

As such, I play games through Big Picture on a regular basis, using a 1680x1050 resolution.

A vast majority of my games work without a problem, even managed to get surround sound working after much trial and error.

That said, I have a few games (Lego Lord of the Rings and Super Meat Boy) that will not run at all through my TV. For either game, I start it up and my TV screen goes blank and no sound comes from the speakers, but it still runs through my computer monitor. Strangely enough, these games seem to have the exact same resultion as my other games which seem to run through my TV fine.

Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance,

Dugger

Maybe load the games up in regular Steam mode and change the resolution to something different? Maybe 720p, or 1366x768, assuming it's set to scale up. Or 1080p? Sonic Racing 1 refused to run at anything but 1080p on my 720p set downstairs o_O

In any case, why in the world are you using that bizarre resolution?! Is that what your TV's native resolution is?! There's no way. Why aren't you running at native 1080p?

The resolution of my PC monitor is 1680x1050 (16:10) and my other games ave no problem. I have tried changing resultions but nothing seems to work. :S

I assume you're just mirroring the two? If so, that's probably the problem. Switch your monitor to a 16:9 resolution (yeah, you get little black bars, deal with it). OR, at the least, make sure you are running all your games in a 16:9 resolution. They'll appear letterboxed or stretched on the monitor (depends on your scaling settings), but should be fullscreen on the HDTV.

You're basically sending it a wonky aspect ratio, and depending on the game maybe the TV just doesn't know how to deal with it.

Also, if you've been using 16:10 aspect ratios for your games, and they haven't had bars on the right/left on the HDTV, they have been getting stretched/distorted.

(sounds like you already tried some of those things, but the weird monitor is what I'm thinking would be the issue)
