How does trading trading cards work?
I am having problems understanding this new trading card thing.

What I have figured out so far is that 1/2 the cards are collected by just playing the game, and that I can buy the missing cards in the marketplace.

I have collected 4 of the 8 available for Portal 2 by playing the game. Now how do I trade for the other 4 that I would need to craft them into a badge? do I need doubles of a card in order to make a trade? As far as I know I will not get any more card drops if I continue to play that game. Is that correct?

After crafting the cards into a badge do the cards then disappear from my inventory?

When you have all 5 cards itøs possible to get a boost pack :-)

If you're looking on flat-out buying the trading cards you need, you can just check out the Community Market, where things are sold for real life money. If you're looking to trade for the cards, as long as you have something else the other person wants to trade for, you could trade for the cards without requiring any doubles of cards you may have.

As for the crafting, yes, I believe the cards would disappear from your inventory, but you would have a nice shiny badge in their place :)

Aren't those random? So I'm not guaranteed to receive one. What are the chances of receiving one? ! in 100, 1 in 10,000, 1 in a 1,000,000?

Once you use up all of your card drops you get random booster packs, which are a set of 3 cards.

Ya would be looking to trade cards for cards. I would not trade any of the games in my inventory that I paid actual money for.

This whole thing is looking like some stupid false economy for shiny bobbles. I like the badges and achievements but I'm not dumb enough to pay real mony for them.

essentially i would suggest to play games that get cards, but that you dont care about gaining a badge for.

that way you can trade off those cards for others that u actually want.

Also, once the badge is crafted, the cards dissappear, but you can collect them all again to craft a 2nd level badge. Im not sure if it is possible to craft a 3rd level badge, or what you gain from crafting a 2nd level badge, but i know it is there to do.

I would really like to know how to delete these from my Steam inventory. If anyone knows how, please reply here and let me know. Thank you!

From what I have read you can sell them in the Steam Community Market. Once sold they are gone fron your inventory. You could also just give them away in the trade window as well.
