AMD Coupon and Bioshock Infinite Pre-Purchase Rewards.
I have a coupon from AMD for Bioshock Infinite. I just want to confirm that if I use it I will get the Pre-Purchase rewards as well as count toward the reward counter.

Only reason why I have the thought in my head that it wont is because I'm not actually buying the game. Just using a coupon code for it.

So anyone with past experiences using coupons for steam willing to confirm? Thanks for reading, whether or not you can help :)

No. The coupon is only for the base game. You will not get the pre-order items as well.

Companies are cheap when it comes to free game coupons.

That's what I was afraid of. :/ Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Hello PersonOfAPerson,

I have e-mailed AMD with a similar enquiry and this was their response:

Publicado originalmente por AMD Support:
You will receive your Bioshock Infinite Steam Key when it gets closer to its release date which is on March 26, 2013.

Therefore, you will be able to get your pre-order bonuses.

Thank you for your patience.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Regards,

AMD Support

I hope they know what they are talking about :)

Hope that is true. It isn't often they do that.

"Thats funny. My ticket said.

You will not receive any of the promotional item(s) offered through Steam if you
pre-ordered a copy of this title elsewhere.

Please refer back to the retailer you purchased the game from for any
pre-purchase offers that your purchase qualified for.

If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to
assist you."

But you got support from AMD I went to Steam... I think I'm just gunna bug them till i don't get an automated msg.

I'd have to agree with that.

Remember Borderlands 2? That game had a pre-order code from AMD and a bonus from Steam. People were complaing they didn't get the mechromance or any of the other pre-order bonus items from the AMD code.
PersonOfAPerson 9 MAR 2013 a las 8:40 a. m.
Ya, I can see how they wouldn't. But with the other msg, and the fact they told me to contact the retailer. Makes me doubt, and makes me think they didn't really read my msg. So ill keep bugging till they confirm that that coupon won't give me anything.

Pre ordering is a joke and they obviously know this thats why its full of gimmicks now. That being said, I have this AMD promo code and would love to hear your further results with finding out if we get the bonuses. Also, is there anyway to get rid of the Crysis 3 (activated on origin) for some sweet steam stuff?
PersonOfAPerson 15 MAR 2013 a las 3:33 p. m.
For an update. Its confirmed thet you do NOT get the promo stuff. After activating the promo code AMD emails you the actual game code to activate the game (which i didn't know before hand as i was saving it). It SEEMS they wont email the game activation code for Bioshock until AFTER it has been released, making the question kinda null. If they did email it before the release date, you would not get the preorder stuff as you need to do the purchase directly from the steam storefront. Now if you go through the process of buying it, through the storefront, and instead used a Gift card or something that would work like that, then you would get it.

Heres the relevent info I got from AMD:

BioShock Infinite - Steam Download

We will be sending you a download code for BioShock Infinite as soon as the code is available. You will receive a follow up email that contains a game key that will grant you access to this amazing PC game.

BioShock Infinite release date is on or before March 26, 2013*
(actual release date will vary by country)

Here is the relevent info from Steam after some prying:

Again, you will need to contact AMD Support directly regardind this coupon. If
you receive a CD Key to register on Steam at the time of release, and your
purchase is not completed directly from the Steam storefront, you will not be
eligible for the advertised preorder promotions from Steam.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Steam does NOT allow you to add the game you add with the code to your GIFTS (as i found out inserting the Tomb Raider code). If your intent is to keep one game and send the other, as it was for me. You should activate the promo code through their site, then email the game activation code to whoever you want to give it to.

So it would be more beneficial to give the code away and pre-order Bishock Infinite huh? Because that way you get two games for the price of one (assuming X:COM reward is reached).

However if you see my first post here, that guy said they will send it closer to release and I can enjoy Steam pre-order bonuses.

I'll wait until like 2 hours before launch and if still nothing from AMD, pre-order it from Steam.
PersonOfAPerson 15 MAR 2013 a las 4:27 p. m.
Yes and no, the prices of the 2 games equal about $10 more then bioshock infinite. so you'd only save about $10 by getting it as opposed to using the AMD coupon and buying the games separately. Then if you wait for Xcom and or Bioshock to go on sale you'd make your money back.

If you could sell your AMD coupon, or trade it for a $60+ worth of games you basically get 3 games for free, but it leaves you open to scams. I'm choosing to just wait for them to go on sale, as I have been.

I did not calculate the the TF2 stuff, as its useless to me, and this is all of course assuming Xcom would get unlocked by then.

In UK they are both £30. So if X:COM is unlocked, I can pre-order Bioshock for £30 and get two games costing £60 for £30.

I am still hoping AMD support that replied to me was right and I get the pre-order bonuses but we'll see.

I'll stick with waiting for a code until very close to release, and if nothing, buy Bioshock and hopefully get that and X:COM (if unlocked). If not unlocked, I don't care about other rewards so then I'll just wait for a sale as you say.

I'll update with any further information if I have any.

That's what I figured too. I've already decided to use the code. This time though I'll go through the buying process and see if i can enter it there, if not I'll enter it normally. Personally I don't think we'll even get a code till release day.
masteratt 23 MAR 2013 a las 2:38 p. m.
Got my code and no, it didn't unlock the rewards.
Marble 23 MAR 2013 a las 3:15 p. m.
Well, the pre-order bonuses are given to those who pre-order from Steam so... Not sure why you thought you'd get them in the first place xD
