Companies are cheap when it comes to free game coupons.
I have e-mailed AMD with a similar enquiry and this was their response:
I hope they know what they are talking about :)
Hope that is true. It isn't often they do that.
You will not receive any of the promotional item(s) offered through Steam if you
pre-ordered a copy of this title elsewhere.
Please refer back to the retailer you purchased the game from for any
pre-purchase offers that your purchase qualified for.
If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to
assist you."
But you got support from AMD I went to Steam... I think I'm just gunna bug them till i don't get an automated msg.
I'd have to agree with that.
Remember Borderlands 2? That game had a pre-order code from AMD and a bonus from Steam. People were complaing they didn't get the mechromance or any of the other pre-order bonus items from the AMD code.
Heres the relevent info I got from AMD:
BioShock Infinite - Steam Download
We will be sending you a download code for BioShock Infinite as soon as the code is available. You will receive a follow up email that contains a game key that will grant you access to this amazing PC game.
BioShock Infinite release date is on or before March 26, 2013*
(actual release date will vary by country)
Here is the relevent info from Steam after some prying:
Again, you will need to contact AMD Support directly regardind this coupon. If
you receive a CD Key to register on Steam at the time of release, and your
purchase is not completed directly from the Steam storefront, you will not be
eligible for the advertised preorder promotions from Steam.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Steam does NOT allow you to add the game you add with the code to your GIFTS (as i found out inserting the Tomb Raider code). If your intent is to keep one game and send the other, as it was for me. You should activate the promo code through their site, then email the game activation code to whoever you want to give it to.
However if you see my first post here, that guy said they will send it closer to release and I can enjoy Steam pre-order bonuses.
I'll wait until like 2 hours before launch and if still nothing from AMD, pre-order it from Steam.
If you could sell your AMD coupon, or trade it for a $60+ worth of games you basically get 3 games for free, but it leaves you open to scams. I'm choosing to just wait for them to go on sale, as I have been.
I did not calculate the the TF2 stuff, as its useless to me, and this is all of course assuming Xcom would get unlocked by then.
I am still hoping AMD support that replied to me was right and I get the pre-order bonuses but we'll see.
I'll stick with waiting for a code until very close to release, and if nothing, buy Bioshock and hopefully get that and X:COM (if unlocked). If not unlocked, I don't care about other rewards so then I'll just wait for a sale as you say.
I'll update with any further information if I have any.
