GTA 4 wi'll it become compatable with windows 8?

i got GTA 4 yesterday and it says the seca lancher has a error i tryed a number of thing to fix it but nothing will work. somone says it won't work because the seca thing isn't compatable with win 8. I just wnat to know does anyone know if it ever will? Please help!!!! if not can you get a refund

It works fine. YOu just need to reinstall GFWL. Go to microsoft.com and get the latest version. HOwever I recommend that you

1) Uninstall the existing GFWL client
2) REBOOT
3) Reinstall GFWL from microsoft.com to get the absolute latest version
4) REBOOT

That should fix it.

i tryed it again and i nerver worked am i downloading the right thing its called games for windows live setup im pretty sure thats right

The seculauncher error can also be a Visual C++ problem. But the game does work on Windows 8 despite what others may have told you.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\Installers

Install vcredist_x86.exe

that never worked ether i think the case is steam don't like me we'll thanks anyway ill just wait o see if steams trys to do something about it :) or... beg to get a refund

What is the exact error you get?

Yep that's the same error that is usually fixed by installing the correct GFWL, Visual C++ and .NET Framework 3.5.

i downloaded all of that like 3 or 4 times uninstall and rebooting every timesome other people are having the same problem i'm not sure why it won't work for me could it be something with steam or anything

It's not a steam problem. It's a vcredist/dotnet problem. Ensure you have Dotnet3.5 and vcredist installed properly. You will likely have to

Unisntall ALL vcredist and DOT NET
REBOOT
REinstall vcredist and dotnet3.5
REBOOT
Patch dotnet
REBOOT

were do find the files i can't find them in the uninstall programs?

vcredist is normally called "Visual C++ Redistributables"

Dot net will be called various things liek "Microsoft Dot NET 3.5 SP1" etc
