Sometimes updating causes an issue with .pack files, where old .pack files are not being deleted.
Could you please navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War SHOGUN 2\data
Once there, have a look at the .pack files.
You should have the following files:
boot.pack
bp_orig.pack
data.pack
data_fots.pack
local_en.pack
models.pack
models2.pack
movies.pack
movies_fots.pack
movies2.pack
shaders.pack
sound.pack
terrain.pack
If you have any other .pack files that are not listed above, delete them, and then validate Shogun 2. ONLY DELETE .pack files, not any other type.
Please note that if you don't have some of the above files, that is fine, as these are all the files you would have if you owned all Shogun 2 DLC
You're lucky to have an activity that you can enjoy with your father, take it easy on him.
Worked thank you :******

local_ge.pack (probably "ge", because of german)

models2.pack
movies.pack
movies2.pack
shaders.pack
sound.pack
terrain.pack
As you can see, there are no of these old files you mentioned. I also read about a problem with 32bit operating systems, but i have got a 64bit.
My PC:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2450M @2.50 GHz
GPU: Intel HD 3000
Memory: 6GB DDR 3
Operating system: Windows 8.1 64 bit
Can anybody help me? If you need any more information feel free to ask.
Try a google search:.....how to increase dedicated memory.......some laptops won't let you do it.
If you have a video card that is not being recognized by the game or showing in the dxdiag, read this:http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/20115-STW2-and-Nvidia-Optimus-GPU-s-3-workarounds-solutions
Maybe it would be worth the cost for you to install a dedicated video card.
Thank you so very much, mater_tenebrarum. I, like many others, spent days and days trying all the other suggestions and common fixes, but to no avail. Once I deleted all the excess patch.packs from the data file, the game started right up...
boot.pack
bp_orig.pack
data.pack
language (TXT)
local_en.pack
manifest (TXT)
models.pack
models2.pack
movies.pack
movies2.pack
shaders.pack
sound.pack
terrain.pack
What can i do?
Pc:
Inter Core i5 CPU 650 @3.20GHz
3.20GHz
Nvidia Geforce GT 630 3433 MB
4 gb ram.
I have 32 bit OS.
Please help.
Try the Total war Faq #30 and #32 . Faq #30 will link you to a very large, old TWCenter post, but read this part of Faq #30 first "Note you only have to do the one alteration for the ini.boot file and you're done. All TW titles since ETW are already issued Large Address Aware (LAA)"
I have the same .pack files as you do (excluding mods)
