Gamestop XBOX360 Controller not responding to Microsoft Drivers
I received a free 360 controller for christmas by a relative wh was mistaken as to which platform I played games on lol. However I see that it has a Supported USB port for PC gaming.

I downloaded the neccessary drivers from the windows/games download site, however I cannot get the controller to respond. The 360 windows support cannot detect the controller, and the controller itself keeps producing a "Drivers not found" message.

I have googled EVERYWHERE for a legitimate answer and have come up empty handed after trying 5 or 6 third party driver support sites.

Question in short. HOW can I get my XBOX360 "GAMESTOP" controller to respond t my PC?

BTW I have an ASUS G75VW, I7 WIndows 7 8gram.

Is it a proper corded 360 controler, or just a wireless one with a USB charger cord? I've known people in the past that have made that mistake, so just thought I would ask.
It is corded. Not wireless.

As i said, just double checking. Remember a friend asking me "does it have a battery pack?" "Yes..." "Then its wireless haha".

Is it registering at all? Can you see it on the hardware manager page? If so,try uninstalling though hardware manager while its plugged in, remove it, reset your computer, then plug it back in.

I've seen a Onza controller not respond untill we deleted the drivers and let it re install them again. So its worth a try.

You will have to apply the drivers manualy.

Exen if it isn't an afterglow, same process.

That video is outdated, and the link he provides takes me through the process I already accompliahsed earlier today. the "common" file does not show up and every other file provided does not work. I need an updated version of instructions for this. Thansk for the help though

And I already tried reinstalling drivers. I'm telling ya people. I've tried EVERYTHING under the sun.

I have the exact asus laptop and I am having the same exact issue. I got the black Gamestop wired 360 controller and looked everywhere. Have you found a fix yet? :goblin:

I eventually took the controller back and purchased an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Microsoft 360 controller. The microsoft controller works like a charm.

Just after you posted this, I found a fix for it. What you do is you manually look through all the drivers you have installed and assign the Xbox 360 common driver class. :squirtheh:

I'm new with PC gaming and have the same issue with the wired Xbox "gamestop" controller. How do you assign the xbox common driver class?

When I found the fix, you literally just look through what drivers you have installed. The specific driver you need is something that starts with Xbox. The list should be in alpha, so look more along the bottom of the list. It should be right there
Thank you for your help. after more research I found assigning the driver class is a little above my basic computer skills... Think I'm going to bite the bullet and just buy an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ controller! Thanks again

The gamestop controller has a few issues anyway. For one, the thumbsticks don't have the same sensitivity that the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ controllers have; which means you can only look, move, rapidly with no middleground for control.

THANK U SO MUCH, TheDowns!!!! You really made my day. (Did not have to buy an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ controller)
