Fals read out on steams Hw ans Software survey
i noticed one thing aboute the survey that will give false read out´s ..

the problem is the read out between osx And windows usage ..

people are saying that the osx users are only aboute 4% of the steam users but there is on error in that statement ..

like me that is a osx user , Have not even installed steam or used it in OSX ..

But

I have it installed on my win 7 Disk that i bootcamp on my Apple Pc so i am registered as a Win 7 user and not as a OSX user..

but that is because all the games i like to play only have win versions..

but i have notice on some game forums where people ask for a Osx version of the game .. then they are told that there is not enough people that is using OSX computers.. because the dev´s are checking the surveys like steams ..

Soo steam should consider too change the survey soo you can get correct read out aboute the usage between osx computers and Win Computers..

side note:

you noticed that i used the words " OSX Computer" and "Win computer"

why i used it is because i am tired of the Contest war between people ..

the most comments i see on forums when a osx user ask for a osx version or help is quite funny if you think about it as you can see below

"Get a Real PC" "Get a Real computer" the list can go on soo you know what i mean..

so lets check the comments out..

get a real pc .. hmm apple computer are real pc .. PC = Personal Computer

Macintosh computers is ♥♥♥♥ .. hmm strange Macintosh is only a trademark like dell and HP

and if they refer to the internals.. then i still don´t see the problem because Macintosh computers have intel hardware ..

or what do the rest in here say ??

I do agree they are both PCs. They contailn the same hardware too. Only dirrence is Apple hardwired something in the bios to allow the install of OSX. Everything else is the exact same, besides the OS and there isn't that much preformance diffrence either.

Developers would know that people using OSX can use bootcamp, so it wouldn't effect their design decisons. Since they have access to a Windows OS on the MAC, they will focus on the Windows OS. With Bootcamp, Steam can't properly detect the OS because of how a VM works.

While I agree that the MAC usage is larger then what Steam reports, it is still a minor OS in the gaming industry.

An X-Box uses Windows too, so by developing a game for Windows, they can make it work with two systems for the price of one (almost). Sony uses their own OS, as does Nintendo. Neither are compatable with other OSs, but their shares of the console market make up for it.

I wouldn't mind them making more games for MACs since they could be ported over to Linux easyer too. The more games made for all OSs, the more choices for the users, then none can strangle the market.
