Failed to Start the Game (Missing Executable)
I see the error "Failed to Start the Game (Missing Executable)" when launching a game through Steam. What can I do?

Well since most people won't find the solution here is something I tried, could work and could possibly not work.

This error results from the improper delivery of necessary game files. Please follow the steps below to initiate a small download of the missing content:
1.Completely exit Steam.
2.Navigate to your Steam installation folder (~C:\Program Files\Steam)
3.Delete the 'appcache' folder.
4.Restart your computer and attempt to launch the game through Steam

I got this error note after updating my cs:go game, avg asked for admin password which I dont know so it wanted me to restart so i click restart later try to run game get the missing executable stuff.

I was going to play Galactic Civilization 3 and it said missing executable, so I deleted local file (uninstalled the game), then I press the "install" button again, and the same window poped up saying the same thing, "you are about to install "game name"... but for disk space requirement ONLY 111MB, the game is WAY bigger than that, so I think (still not sure) it is the game problem and the only solotion is wait for it to update...

EDIT: Nvm on that one, because my other computer have only 32-bits and Galactic Civilzation 3 requires 64-bits.

Don't do this, i did this and i now have a huge game that i now have to reinstall.

Wish I knew this didn't work before doing it. Did the steps twice before realizing my error and now the game won't load and keeps re-downloading 3.6 GB of game files. Went through Steam support multiple times, trying to find a solution for a missing executable, and all Steam Support had to say was contact the product's website. Bah humbug.

Okay I fixed it, you go to your library and right click on the game that is "Missing Executable" and select properties, then go to local files and then do "verify integrity of game cache and it should fix it for you.

im gonna try that right now, see if it works.

Unless you solve the problem of the "missing executable" error as in what is causing it, this is probably just going to happen again. First you have to find the cause and fix it and THEN verify the game files exactly as suggested here...

Usually , these errors can be caused by antivirus programs blocking Steam or confilicting with Steam.

I don't see an appcache folder. I can't delete something that's NOT there.
