What is the progress on windows 8 steam?

You can play them now. I have 300+ games on Steam and they all run fine. 95% of them right out of the box (so to speak). The others were fixed by downloading the GFWL software from the MS site and installing it. The one that is installed with the games doesn't work.

I suggest running in desktop mode for Steam. It will go to desktop mode when you launch Steam anyways.

My guess is more along the lines of bad information. Some people truely do think that Steam and/or games won't work on Windows 8.

I really cant play with windows 8. Even when i have connection, when i try updating it says have no connection. I've tried everything to try to get it to work, but it doesn't.

Try turning off the firewall. Could also be your router and some ISPs (mobile ones) tend to block Steam for some reason.

no, not a troll. did you upgrade from win7 to win8 while you had steam, or did you get a new computer with win8 pre-installed

I did a full install of windows 8 Pro upgrade using an activated, but empty, install of XP.

I then downloaded and installed Steam and copied my Steamapps folder back to my computer.

I also disabled the windows firewall after downloading Comodo Personal Firewall and installing that. This was before installing Steam.

That just means something is blocking Steam form accessing the internet. Steam works fine, it is a configuration issues somewhere.

My ISP is at&t. I had a old computer that worked fine with steam. i got and a new computer and now its not working. it still works on my old computer, but my old computer can't run most of my games.

Did you copy Steam over or do a fresh install of it?

Have you tried turning off your firewall yet?
