[TF2] Failed to load hitsound.wav file probably missing from disk/repository.

My tf2 hitsound will not play if placed in the tf/sound/ui and I can't reset the dingaling settings. If I enable hitsounds all my sound starts to glitch out but my hitsound will still not play. I have also tried to move the hitsound out of the ui folder as suggested in another forum and it will play but when I hit someone in game online or offline the sound still won't play. I am using the quake hitsound if that matters at all. Thanks for any and all help.

Try to download that quake hitsound again and place it in tf/sound/ui folder. In main menu go to multiplayer and check for the hitsound activated. Then open console (~ button) and type snd_rebuildsoundcache .
