Steam Client - Full Download?
Is there a way for me to have a full installer of the Steam client, instead of installing the smaller client and downloading the rest of the files?

The reason why I ask because I have a slow Internet connection and it would be far quicker to download the full package, so can be reinstalled easily (i.e. on my 2 PCs and a laptop) and then does a small update once installed, rather than a big update.

Thanks,

Tony

You can have a friends copy the steam folder (minus the Steamapps folder) onto a disk or other media, then just copy it onto your computer.

Or just backup yours in the same way for easy re-install.

Thanks, so you're saying that I can copy my friend's folder and transfer it to my PC (without the SteamApps folder) and it will work? What about the 'instaling' bits? (i.e. windows registry, etc) unless launching it will re-create these registry entries?

Cheers,
hi, i have an issue. steam isnt installed, to install it, it needs to be online, but to be online, it needs to be installed, so, what must i do? where can i get help, where can i get a full installer downloaded from? all my friends have same problem, is it just steam for the past month thats not working? why must i pay for steam games, if for months on end i cant even play them?

try copy from already installed steam: Steam.exe + package folder
+++
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam]
"SteamExe"="%disk%:/%full path to steam folder%/steam.exe"
"SteamPath"="%disk%:/%full path to steam folder%/"
+++
but all info and install bit stored in *.blob
now, what it does is download a 33.something meg update, and after that, nothing.... then, double click .exe and the same thing again, downloads 33. bla bla bla bla bla, endless circle...
