Is there any safe way to trade games?
So I pre-ordered Bioshock Infinite from Greenmangaming, and I got a bunch of steam keys.
They added Xcom Enemy Unknown, which is not the type of games I like. So does anyone know a secure way to trade it for something else? I know that you can trade gifts in the steam trade thing, but AFAIK you can't trade keys that way. You either have to tell them the key first or after. And there is no way I will give my part of the trade first. I don't really trust others I don't know, and I don't expect others to trust me... Also, I want to make sure that it IS allowed to trade keys. So is it allowed? I hope someone can help me out. First time using the forums.

no there's no absolutely safe way to trade keys or anything that doesn't go in the trade window (even then its not safe if what your getting was got via a scam and steam take it back)

you can minimse risk by only trading with people who have a good trading history with lots of posative feedback from others, or simply stating when/if you make a trade whoever is sending you goods will go first but obviously your going to put people off if you say that. also its ok to trade keys unless you got them as part of a humble bundle afaik (you didn't)

I don't even know how to reply so... I hope you see this.
1. Thanks for telling me.
2. Do you know any good way to find someone that wants to trade? Or is the only way to post it on the forums?

Trade with (actual) friends. You seem to have a bunch on steam, are there at least 20 of them that you would trust that you could ask?

What should I not trade for?

Do not trade for anything that cannot be added into the trade window within Steam. The most common examples of these scenarios are the following:

Trading items/gifts for CD Keys. You cannot add a CD Key into the trade window. CD Keys that are offered can be for a different game, fake, used or region restricted. A common example of this trade is trading items/gifts in return for a promotional CD Key that is never given to you.

You can still trade keys from the humble bundle, just don't expect to get much from them. Even the games that are not bought from the bundle but are in the bundle will get a lower price during that time.

I see. So it's close to impossible to sell a key? Since Steam doesn't think you should do so. And the part with the games being less worth is probably the same here. Well, I'm going to ask some of my friends on my friends list if they are interested for buying it for... most likely something like prison architect + hotline miami... right around 31 euro. Thanks for clearing things up, everyone :).

Would selling the code on e-bay work? You get the money first then send them the code with proof that you did so. I imagine ebay would offer protection to your bank info or deposit info also unlike direct trading.

You can try, but there are still issues with it. Someone can use the code and do a charge back, ect.

I guess so. It opens up a boatload of other problems with scams and such though.

Just because everybody does, doesn't mean HiB likes it. ;)

Unfortunately, if you already have a game in the bundle you will not be able to gift the extra games to a friend.

Please consider your bundle a "unit", and not to share copies of the games or Steam keys from it.

If you'd like to give a copy of the games away, we have a system in place that allows you to buy a gift key from www.humblebundle.com so your friends can have access to direct downloads as well as any Steam or other keys we have included.

Never said they did. I think the link talks about a diffrent situation too. A package does not give extra copies of the game.

Then again, it is worded a bit oddly.

hmmm some of my friends have used steamtrades.com, but you need to have over 100 bucks worth of games in your steam account to post. you can check traders feedback and the almighty so called "rep".
