Where is "AE"
I live in Germany and there is "United States" then I put city as APO then in states there is no "AE". So I can not buy items off of the Steam Market. Help please? And that "=us" doesn't work, don't give me that BS.

Restart Steam?

Alright

Basically, when I try to purchase an item off of the Community Market, it tells me:

"There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."

So when I go to Country (United States selected) then I click City, I put in APO (Which I am supposed to do), but then when I do State, there are all the states but "AE" is supposed to show up. (AE is American Forces Europe)

I'm an American and over in Germany for Military reasons.

AE is a city?

APO Is the city

My bad other way around.

APO should be the City, AE is the State

Ugh

Basically, "AE" is for American Forces Europe
AE is supposed to be in the "STATES" Column when purchasing an item, it isn't there.
I have "United States" Selected under "COUNTRY". So basically I put the City as "APO" which I am supposed to do. Now I have no idea what to do.

When purchasing on Steam, the address should be the exact billing address as it appears on your bank statements.

Is AE the "state" mentioned on your bank statements?

AE is not a state...
Mike Jeffries Oct 28, 2013 @ 11:08am
It is Frazer.
Felix Oct 28, 2013 @ 11:11am
But American Forces Europe isn't a state[en.wikipedia.org] in the United States of America?

Surely your billing address is attached to a physical address within one of those US States?

Sorry for my ignorance here. I've just never heard of AE before.

I am here because of the United States Military.

But my credit card is registered here in Germany, but not registered TO Germany. Its basically in between Germany and the US. It is registered to an American Forces Europe thingy.

AE is not a state of the USA.

Your home is in the US? Can't you just write down your home address on there?
I can see where the problem is, military APO are formatted as such..

# Example #
Name: PFC Jack Lyon
Address 1: 23rd Battalion
Address 2: Unit 1234, Box 56789
Country: United States
City: APO
State: AE
Zip/Postal Code: 96522-1215

That state doesn't exist and shouldn't exist on any standard e-tailer listings, you should contact support to get this fixed.

Having done a quick little bit of Googling, Paypal appears to accept this kind of address.
Have you considered setting up a Paypal account, tying that to your bank account and using that for Steam purchases?

Otherwise, I feel you may have to contact Steam Support and see if there are any provisions that can be put in place for the future regarding this issue.
