Steam Downloads Extremly Slow, Help?
Alright, so my network provider provides with a speed of 150mbps, max traffic is 135mbps according to them when I asked. I've got cable and my PC aint bad so dont criticize it, it's definately not the PC as i've got 4 computers and none of them can download steam games faster than 900 kbps.

I went to several internet speed test sites and the most common result I got among all of the tests were

Download Speed 5 - 29 mbps (To servers from Europe to US and Asia)
Upload Speed 0.80 - 3.20 mbps (Same as above)

I don't really know what to do to speed up my download speed. I'll note down some facts that will be good for you (the reader/helper) to know before you suggest anything.

- Only one computer is on at a time.
- No viruses, no bad PC, PC is brand new, got it 1 month ago, built it and all pieces togheter costed around 3.5k dollars
- No programs running in the background, only steam.
- Contacted internet provider
- I live in Malmö.
- I got the Sweex Router.
- I've tried different servers on steam, yet no change.

I'm getting sick tired of how all my buds here in Malmö who got the same internet provider keep getting download speeds of 3 mbps on steam but I only get 900 kbps, they have some cheap computers that cant even do squat.

I would really appreciate it if somebody guided me through this. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had the same problem I was downlaoding a game and I went out, and then my internet spped was going 15KB/sec although the peak was 1.3mb/s. So I tried many webs for the speed but my interent was gd. So I restarted my PC and it actualy work

900 kb is bad? my usual speed is like 1mb and i'm happy with that, but recently, it's dropped to 50 kb per sec. tried everything, still ♥♥♥♥ speed.

My speed has risen to 9 mb/s ever since this post, so the problem has pretty much been resolved.. lol.

I'm downloading ESO atm and at first it went with a speed of 5/6 mb per second and now at 99percent its stuck and goes with a speed of 50bytes

Just as a future heads-up, as the saying goes "there's many a slip 'tween cup and lip". What I mean by this is that it's all too easy to assume that when you get the issues you've been getting that it's Valve (or the end-point's) fault. There's MANY points in between that, so to assume so is folly, regardless of what your friends are doing.

Your friends don't have the same cable to your house, nor modem, nor even likely the same server within the same ISP.

So, what to do?

Simple - process of elimination. As you ONLY have control of the bits at your end, you need to check and discount them. So, first start with the point where the cable joins your house. Hard connect your PC therem and see how it goes. THEN, and only then, move onto your modem, then your cable between your modem and PC and lastly, your PC.

I understand it's perfectly natural to assume it's beyond your control, but that's not how these things work. When there's a problem, and others in your area are NOT having a problem, then it's likely something YOUR end.

In your case here, it could easily have been a Windows/OS issue (if you reboot since), or a modem issue, a cable issue in your house or outside internittently causing issue, or the server you just happened to connect to at your ISP.

now ive deleted my eso files (in steam by clicking that delete local files) and deleted the map manually in my library folder. redownloaded it and its again stuck at 99 percent, im getting the connection time out error..
pls help bc i know there are enough pc genius people here

Brah i thought a download speed of 5/6 mb persecond is pretty fast

I'm sorry, but that's absolute rubbish and irrelevant to the topic in hand.
The speed - which is fine - has NOTHING to do with the 99% issue.

Yeah i fixed my problem by using the code i got on steam for the Elder Scrolls Online site itself and downloaded it from there
