My LapTop can´t have any games from steam because of OneDrive
The problem is that, everytime i try to install a steam game, for some reason it messes with my onedrive, overcharging it (5GB) and then making it unable to hold any more files
Idk if the problem of the webhelper when i installed steam has anything to do, but im lost, no idea of what i need to do to fix this and play my games>
Can someone help me on this one?
btw idk if everyone has a Onedrive, so if you dont know what it is, google can tell you.

There must be an option to tell this onedrive thing to not include certain directories on your disk...
RPG Gamer Man 16 de jan. às 13:12
There is a way to disable one drive. I think you need to go into onedrive settings and set it to not turn on or something.
Iceira 16 de jan. às 13:32
OP try read how to stop sync to ondrive , but i will warn you make backup before you do.

MS last time i try fix this, do not have stop sync , and actual start to delete local files also.

Either i did a mistake or MS is a screwup app that did not do it right or explan better.

Dont forget, i and other have use apps that way more complicate then cloud app

It's long time ago i fiddle with it, they could have update and fix it, and maybe not.

ps.
if you copy it all to a folder if you have room and you make mistake you will not cry then you have backup folder with it.

it dont help if you have ESO that use Document folder for mods and usersdata.
and who know what other game or app dump data in there that get sync with MS-onedrev.

Feel free to make post about it , steam might not see it as a steam issue, and yet they will understand the Document issue then all game use to store its data there. ( so technicaly who knows then next steam user get effect by full onedrev cloud solutions, this will not go away, actual will only increase, unless you buy more capacity or fix this storage issue.

Turn it off is not a option if you use privat files for IRL things, so you need to sort what it should syn-c example not steam games maybe with cloud Solution. or no game at all.

Many will not see your problem untill they have a game or app that use all space in the cloud.

This is why it is good to buy a external hard drive. I store my stuff on it, and it works fine. I hate one drive and how it is forced on you when you buy a new pc. I always end up shutting it off. Just make sure to put a password on your external hard drive, and you will be fine.

Exatly but lets see if OP can understand what MS explan and it work as it should.
then she think it will stop a folder sync, but as i said i see MS remove local files, and that was not what i asked for, stop a sync is not same as get file removed , and maybe i misunderstod it or make a mistake , but i bet i not the only one that seen this. and i have no clue if MS has update it or fixed it.

There has been many onedrive update, and it dont help i get more space , ppl only fidddle with this then its a problem.

the main focus should be to find out why steam is in a synced folder. programs should not be in a synced folder oO disabling onedrive sync can only delay the problem

Turn off One drive for gaming, good for business or basic home stuff. Grab a min 2TB external HD, sins new Laptop it should have better USB ports, find out what they are and match that with External capabilities.. 2TB Externals are rather cheap these days.
Fall2YrDoom 16 de jan. às 15:54
If you play many games, go bigger obviously, 10TB or even a few of them.. Depending on what you are playing many games suck up a lot of space.. It catches up with you rather quickly, so instead of uninstall to make room for another game just buy a bigger external when you can.

OneDrive should only automatically backup specific folders in your Documents folder, by default. You should check what is being uploaded, and change the selected folders accordingly.

While MS tends to be very stronghanded about people linking their PCs with OneDrive - and other of their crapware - you can certainly run your PC with it disabled or with automatic synchronization/backup off, or even uninstall it altogether.

Hey mate,

Simply open OneDrives settings, and then de-select some of the folders that you are syncing to the cloud.

By default I think they have Desktop, Documents, Pictures and Music. I think if you take Docments away that should do the trick as programs can put files in there which may be larger than avg. (Like the gaming youre trying to install).

TAKE NOTE - OneDrive is one of the worst designed programs ive ever seen.

When you unselect a folder to sync with on OneDrive, some f&%$ing Developer thought it was a good idea to make your "OneDrive's files" the Master copy, and then it proceeds to place all items of the synced directory on the LocalMachine, in the recycle bin.

Now, If you move them all out of Documents to another location.... OneDrive will then start to redownload them from your cloud to the synced location. And visa-versa.

If you delete them from the cloud, from memeory it might prompt you with confirmation, to delete them from the locatoion on the LocalMachine it is syncing with.

Best Method:

1 - Just throw (Copy) lets say "Docuemtns" Folder onto a HDD, or large USB
2 - Pause Syncing to cloud (near settings from drop down dialog box).
3 - Unpair your %folder of choice% from OneDrive (Best method have it open in your webbrowser)
4 - If it removes all the contents of your Docments on the LocalMachine 'Swear at microsft" and then either, Restore all files from trash, or copy back from HDD.
5 - Then delete the files from the cloud (on OneDrives Website).

Hope this helps

Yo!
I will be trying out this tip of yours as soon as i get back to my laptop, but for now, thank you very much mate!

Thanks ThePenetrator for try the explan MS app issue, and the problem here is the many update for a strait forward app and as you said it
"TAKE NOTE - OneDrive is one of the worst designed programs ive ever seen."

Also part of the problem here. Thats the problem with not have a design plan, aka Brain storm about it.

I mean i think you could design it better with A ROUND ROBIN SOLUTION TO random programmers. rofl, ( why we are rude here is because of option so badly explaned and then it delete local content.

Anyway Lets see if OP can usee the information until MS change something again. ( and lets hope for the better in the app. )

GL with it OP
