OpenGL error running Left 4 Dead 2 on Linux
I'm a new Steam customer and a Linux user. I've been playing Portal 2 through Wine. It works on my hardware, but not well; I have to run it on the lowest resolution.

I bought the the discounted Left 4 Dead bundle, and trying to run the native Linux version of Left 4 Dead 2 gives this error:

Could not find required OpenGL entry point 'glColorMaskIndexedEXT'! Either your video card is unsupported, or your OpenGL driver needs to be updated.

I don't know how to update only OpenGL. I already ran an apt-get update command. I don't know if there's a special repository for the latest OpenGL drivers, or something.

I'm going to try installing the original Left 4 Dead in a Wine prefix, which should help to determine whether my inability to run Left 4 Dead 2 is a hardware issue or simply a Linux driver problem. Until then, I'd appreciate any advice from more savvy gamers.

If I'm reading the output of the Linux 'lspci' command correctly, I believe my video card is an ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 series. Not good by any means, but I think it should be within minimum requirements.

Processor: AMD Athlon 64
RAM: 2 gigs
OS: Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon 64-bit

Thank you!
