Pending Balance Steam Market
Hello, I have a problem, I sold an item on steam market and the balance is in pending with this message "Some funds are pending. This typically occurs after a purchase you made has been refunded. These Steam wallet funds are currently unusable"... I never see this before and I have not doing any refund, why it says that I made an refund ?

Its a new security measurement and was introduced about a week ago.
If a item sells for a price that diverges from the average selling price of the item the payout is getting hold back for a while.
Its to prevent scammers from mass selling the items of a hijacked account.
The function is currently still a bit sensitive and flags a lot of rather normal transactions.
But dont worry, just wait a bit, the money will be freed after a few hours.

Edit: Just to clarify, this answer was correct when the system was introduced in May and it really took just a few hours.
By now its about 2 days which seems to be the standard. I cant look into the future when i give an answer, even if that would be useful.

Holy ♥♥♥♥ steam. This pending balance is cancer as ♥♥♥♥. Why the ♥♥♥♥ do I have to wait for my money after u tax my sales!? Wtf is this logic. Ok, I try to be understanding that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are "protecting" accounts from scammers/hijackers etc etc but, why the ♥♥♥♥ do I have to suffer the consequences of idiot(s) out there that can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ protect their own account!? Like imagine, you rock up to a bank after selling stuff online and you go to the bank and want to withdraw that money but bank says no, your money in your account is pending/on hold. Like what? THAT'S MY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MONEY, I HAVE ALL THE RIGHT TO USE IT WHEN I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PLEASE. Plus. You holding my balance stops me from buying other in-game items/skins that are on sale and i'm not sure if you know what "sale" mean (sale items have a time limit) because obviously whoever came up with this "protection" protocol is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that obviously never went through life or has been living with their parents all their life. STEAM. IT'S NOT MY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RESPONSIBILITY NOR YOURS THAT PEOPLE ACCOUNTS ARE GETTING HIJACKED/SCAMMED. THAT'S THE PERSON ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RESPONSIBILITY TO BE SMART AND PROTECT THEIR OWN ACCOUNTS! STOP CATERING YOURSELVES TO IDIOT(S), STOP SPOON FEEDING THEM IN SAKE OF EVERYONE ELSE FREE RIGHT! THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GETTING SCAMMED NEED TO LEARN A LESSON AND GET BETTER! For ♥♥♥♥ sake.

Finally I would like to say/add, if other reason(s) for with-holding people(s) money/free right so you guys can do some dodgy derivative/future trading (hedge fund ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) then please, do everyone a favor and go ♥♥♥♥ yourselves.

Since you guys (steam dev) wants to cater for idiot(s) and take responsibility for their own action(s). Why not start pending/with-holding people money/balance when they top up using their own credit cards/paypal etc? Because people personal bank account(s) or payment account(s) such as paypal/google pay/apple pay can get scammed/hijacked/compromised too. Then everyone can't use their money in steam to buy anything. Why not starting doing that huh...? Start taken responsibility for people bank accounts and payment option/account(s) too lmao.

That's not the part Valve is protecting. And the vast majority of the funds use for the purchase had been on various Steam accounts getting moved from one account to the other and not freshly added money.

I haven't had to top up in years and I've sold/purchased thousands of items and still have earned over $1k on my account.

Definitely not a user-friendly feature, sold a cheap item for 1 cents below listed price and have to wait for unidentified amount of time lol.

Plus I don't understand the consistency here, like i've sold some items couple days ago cheaper /around 40-50 cents cheaper/ and it had no issue. Then i sell something 1 cents cheaper and it happens. What's the algorithm here at all, lol?

Abandon this freak practice immediately!

It's a ridiculous process that applies to every item I put at a cheaper price.

braindead decision by valve, I sold lower than usual to quickly receive funds and am left off waiting longer than if I sold at higher price. What's the point in two factor auth at this point??? It solves no issues
my funds were gonna be ready within 6 hours sold a 30 cent skin gotta wait 2 days now

Nah pretty sure your older transactions aren't delayed by newer ones.

Yeah, it's a sad state of affairs when so many people don't understand account security and the system must have restrictions put in place for them AND the innocent people that fall prey to so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Just be mad at the right people. It ain't Valve...

Holding a transaction for two days, and praying to Jesus the account owner will realize they've been hacked and create a ticket in that time frame, is an indispensable part of account security? Even though it's a band-aid they haphazardly applied after years of service?

I think maybe, just maybe that's a pile of crap.

valve should just make this optional in steam guard settings if youre someone who cant protect their account properly

they do this user-unfriendly feature but when theres api scams and bots in tf2 theyre radio silence

My bad for selling for 1 cent less. $18 on hold... Nice.
