New Scam I almost fell for :[
So I was just playing tf2 minding my business and I get a random friend rq now I have no problem with that until I add them then they go are you busy? I go no, tell me why when I wake up! I get a message from the user saying I'm so sorry I "accidentally" reported your account for fraud and scamming! Who does that! Good thing I'm not dumb enough to send my purchase history or anything else but if I get banned falsely by some random scammer I'll be upset! So I don't know what to do I don't wantnto get banned or hacked

Nothing new, that scam has been around for a while.
If you did not enter any personal information, you should be fine.

Check this out: Scam: I Have Been Reported and Will Be Banned

Report and block that user.

You will not be banned. There is no report. It's a scam!

Read the FAQ I linked above.

The 'new' scam is over a decade old.

All profile reports are checked manually and based only on evidence within the system. There could be hundreds of "accidential reports" on your account, and you would never even know about it, because they are silently discarded (and beside that, they don't really report you anyhow).

It's a scare tactic (and not an as new one, as you think; this thing has been doing its rounds for ten years at least). Good thing, you did not fall for it.

After checking your groups, I think you should secure your account (just to be safe).

Take the following steps to secure your account:

1. Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a clean computer.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key (there should be no key). https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

All third-party sites are use at own risk.

Never enter your Steam login information on a third-party site.

For everyone of us, there is a fraud scheme out there, that we are suspectible to.
For every fraud, that we fall for, there is someone, who regards it as painfully obvious.

If you dig about twenty years deep into the past of my email account, you will find a lengthy answer mail to a "nigerian prince", about how much I regret that I am not able to help him.
No mockeries from my end.

Ah yes, the nigerian prince email. I remember these. They started about 2000 if i remember. Had one sent to me also, but i was smart enough to go to several forums online and learned it was fake. Funny enough, family guy did a whole episode about CARTER getting scammed by this, and it apparently was true.

Don't think in singular fraud schemes. Those indeed are new every now and then. It's the grand scheme of things, in which every new type of scam is decades-old. If you think in said grander scheme, there's been exactly 2 scam scemes on Steam since 2003. Variations of phishing & account-stealing malware (which existed some-couple-several years ago).
