displaying playstation glyphs instead of xbox glyphs in games

hyper-specific issue: i use a controller that is meant for the nintendo switch, and as such steam labels it as a nintendo switch controller. the only problem is that most games do not support said controller properly since the a/b and x/y buttons are swapped and games get confused most of the time.

i have tried using programs like x360ce but i end up getting confused most of the time because i am used to the switch button layout, not the xbox layout.

my question is: is there a way to basically force steam to show playstation buttons in games instead of xbox ones? or is there a program that does basically what x360ce does, but for playstation controllers? not sure where to ask so im asking it here. i saw some "define layout" thing mentioned somewhere but i couldn't find said setting, maybe it's related to that.

No.
That is up to the game to implement and most games didn't bother with implementing Dualsense/Dualshock button prompts.

And the Steam client offers a way to invert A/B and X/Y for Switch style controllers.

In some games, if you turn off Steams controller input settings the game might be able to detect your Playstation gamepad.

But yea it's up to the game developer to fix this.

Very few games have PS style prompts in them. You either need to

Find a mod,
mod it yourself
Get a controller with xyab
Get used to it...doesn't take all that long. Most confusing is the X and cross as they look similar. This also makes it easy if playing on someone's Xbox as you'll know what to press

Are these glyphs you lot are talking bout where the controller your using has a problem where every button will perform an action that one button will do so for ex swinging a weapon is performed by every button cause it happens on the last year game so if I craft an Item the controller can also do something else like it will Interupt the current action and do something else like running and get me killed, its like the Controllers messed up big time or its these glyphs thing you are on about but this last year game has full xbox controller support so I dunno why this would be happening if thats what this is at all

You maybe able to change it in big picture mode. There are settings in there for controllers. Try unchecking all type of controllers except playstation ones. This may fix your issue.

It's about the what the prompts look like


A B X Y or as often refered to as Xbox style prompts/glyphs

and Circle, Square, Triangle and cross often referred to a Playstation style

Most games only support A B X Y, I've always been using playstation controllers with xbox buttonprompts, you get used to it pretty quickly, I even actively try to turn it back to xbox prompts now, if a game actually does have playstation prompts haha
