Skyrim full package download...need to reinstall one of the expansions

The beginning quest for dragonborn Xpac has glitched and I cant proceed through the quest line. Iv read on forums that my only option is to reinstall that Xpac. Now since I downloaded all of it from steam I cant seem to find a way to do this. The Xpac is $15 alone and Id prefer to be able to proceed through the story line. If this is my only option will it remove all my saved data and is there a path to backing that data up if so. Thanks for any help in advance.

Verify Game Cache Files (GCF)

That verifies the file are not corrupt or missing.

What part of the quest are you having issues initiating exactly?

You should try verifying the Game Cache file first and if that dosnt work and you still want to re-download the DLC you can go to the skyrim data folder (steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data) and delete the Dragonborn ESM and BSA files.

After doing this go into steam and verify the integrity of Skyrim's game cache (right click, properties, Local Files, Verify the integrity of the game cache) and wait for it to download the missing files.

spawn, at the very beginning. Look for who sent the cultists be searching the dead ones. I searched him and nothing was on him. Come to think of it I had cultists try to kill me on 2 separate occassions when I started playing, within the first 10 hours and I never saw anything on them either. Thanks guys, Ill give that a shot.

Try that.

To reach Solstheim, travel to Windhelm to find the cultists’ boat. Speak with the Ship’s Captain to convince him to take you, and you’ll sail for Solstheim.

nice!...I googled and looked at forums for about 30 minutes this morning with no luck. I didnt expect such quick responses on here. Thanks again Spawn...and if that stuff doesnt work Ill do what was first suggested. Lap, yeah Im always nervous about that. I put 190 hours into skyrim on Xbox when it was first released. I think if I lost the data second go around I might not want to play again,
