Gift revoked.
So although i've already made a ticket and waitting for a response i would like to know if anyone has been on my place to tell me possible solutions about my problem.
So here is the deal.
I traded with a guy cod:ghosts gift for 17 keys.I took cod installed it and was playing for 2 days now until i got a warning from valve that the gift has been revoked and i lost my game.So i'm guessing its a scum from the other trader right? But is this legal to do?I mean after all it was a legit trade how can he take it back?

I think it's due a chargeback from the buyer's creditcard company. He might have been using a middleman account to cover up his tracks, but some people simply cannot be trusted. Try to find people to trade with that have a decent profile with many games on it. It's usually the accounts who own just one game to make trades and later get tradebanned.

I'm not sure why steam removed the game from your inventory? I thought that was over?

Exactly that. Why would steam be bothered to take it from me?Even if the guy was not trusted the game was bought. The trade happened.Even if he said it was a scum there would be a trade reverse wich means i would have my keys back. But nope i dont have them.
Anyway i'll wait for either to get the game back or my keys

This.

If a charge back is done, the game gets removed. No money was received for the game so no game.

It sucks, I know, but that is how a business works. You can't let someone keep something that wasn't paid for.

Contact support and they will let you know what they can do.

I doubt he did trade in the the trade window. You can not buy a game as a gift on an account that does not own the game on.

Please clear this up OP, how did the trade go down? You know the rules, trade in the trade window or get scammed.

Yes, you can buy a game as a gift, even if you don't own it. and trade/gift it to another account.

I do it all the time for games I want to hold on to when there is a sale, or when buying for my wife.

Seriously? I have tried it several times. Maybe it is because I buy the 4 packs a lot. I have to add one of those to my account every time.

Four packs, yes. You can't buy it if you own a copy already. If you don't, then one is automatically added to your account, with 3 gift able copies in your inventory.

If you are buying a single game, you can choose to buy for yourself, or as a gift. If you choose as a gift, one of the options is to add it to your inventory.

Oh, ok. I buy 4 packs almost every time. Thanks for clearing that up. So guy buys a CoD on an account knowing it will be revoked and trades for keys? I would suspicious of anyone trading such a new game.

In the same trade window we traded the gift and the keys.

I'm not actually sure what a key is supposed to be, but if it's in one trade transaction through Steam, chances are that support can/will roll back the entire thing.

From their viewpoint you did nothing wrong, and the trade was performed properly. Thus, no need to punish you.

I read the trade policies of steam and it said we can only refund things if they were on the trade window + it was something from dota2/tf2/etc games of valve.Keys are currency in dota2.So i did everything legal. And yes im pretty sure ill get back the refund.BUT.why is valve allowing to revoke gifts?Wouldnt they know that things like that happen?I also read on trade policies that you can buy games as gifts so you can trade them.So why can someone revoke the gift meaning they will have the game back plus the items traded?

If someone illegally purchases a game, then it will be revoked, whats not to understand here?
If i buy a game as gift, then revoke the payment, then valve didn't get any money for it and in addition, the one who received the gift, still have the game, which would be pretty unfair from Valves side if he would keep it.

Same as in: I steal a car and give it to someone.
If the police would find out, you will need to give the car back to the owner, same logic here.

Oh i didnt knew there was a way to revoke the payment.Yeap that makes sense. But that means he will still be punished for trading it right? And i'll get my refund back.I didnt nothing wrong followed the trade policies by letter

I can't say anything about the punishment, as i'm not from support. This is up to them.
But the Trading policy states that the user will then be suspended.

here is the part from the Trading policy:

What if I redeemed a game from a trade that is fraudulently purchased?

If this happens, the account where the fraud took place will be suspended. Your account will not be suspended, however the game you redeemed/unpacked to your account will be removed. We will restore the items/gifts that were associated with the trade that you performed to receive the game. If you did not trade any items/gifts for the game directly then we are not able to restore anything to your account (i.e. if the game was a gift). Please contact Steam Support if a game that you traded for is missing from your inventory or account.

But still, you would need to contact support, this is not done automatically.
