Steam not recognizing internet connection. DDoS attack still causing issues?
I haven't been able to login into steam for the past 24 hrs. I have read about this DDoS attack yesterday on Jan 3. But I have still not been able to login into my account. The store and community is obviously up so why can't i login? As a note i can login on my tablet but no on my desk top. i have tried the usual of rebooting both steam, comp, and router. nothing is working.

i also cannot connect to offline mode. when ever i click the prompt for offline mode it just restarts steam and asks for the login information again.

Try Refreshing Steam
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638

If that fails try to go to were steam is installed and delete all of it but DO NOT delete the next files:
Steam.exe (keep these as you need it)
steamapps (Were your games are)
userdata (some saves are here)
skins (your skins not need to delete)

Then after its all good active steam.exe and it will need to download and set up Steam again see if that helps

-_- do you know what is DDosing? its not something easily to just block...
if you want i can show you what it is
can it's source be traced?
i have tried all the standard rebooting/refreshing options.. they have done nothing
wtf >.< can't login with other account someone must slap this kid ._.

it can
But a smart hacker will use what we call bots that mean he takes over zombies PC (like you pc or any one else (internet cafe)
Then he will attack from there and from his own and more PCs in the same time

Now most of the time it will be like someone asking for the store page...
But asking for it over and over 100000 times a second

So its not easy to break a legit user and a Bot user

And any thing can make a PC a bot.. any software you get... there was a second life viewer that was made with a build in bot hiding in it and when you use it
it will have attack a site.. so even that you are a legit user.. you may attack a site with out knowing

They do not have to be.. even one smart guy can have 100 zombies.. today its easy to learn how
With tools made by real hackers...
Also like i say even if there like 20-30 only its hard to know if there really are attacking or just a any day user trying to get the store page...
its the same like refreshing the store page over and over
*reads chfthecat's twitter* *braces self for steam DDosing again*
okay i tried your solution of refreshing... i couldn't get it to work. when i follow the instructions it again just askes for my login informaytion

so i tried teh delete and run option and again no help. it now says "steam needs to be online to update. please confirm your network connection and try again."

....o can it be you have a firewall blocking Steam?
Or something?
Try also maybe turning off the Firewall and see if Steam can connect
If that fails turn it back on then if you have a router discussant it and connect the PC to the modem (just to see if that works)
sorry no firewall. i have tried rebooting the router as well.
do you think a steam reinstall will work?

Can be but before you do that take out steamapps and userdata (and if you have skins that as well) then do it.. so you will not lose all your games
