Has anyone else noticed this ? All the same games from the previous sales and the Black Friday sales .

Even the same discounts applied.

As another poster said "The Steam Sales appear to be running out of Steam"

Are there really that many games on PC to have a wider selection on sale? I have noticed BTW that some games that were on sale at the Black Friday sale which werent on sale then are now, Baldur's Gate II for example.

Yeah but on the front store page alone and the flash sales , Train sim 2014 , Xcom , Age of Empires , Omerta city of gangsters , Sleeping Dogs etc etc. All on sale within the last 4 weeks

What I've noticed is that the games and discounts are not the same as before. Sure, some are, but that always happens. Looking at current sales, though, Proteus, Civilization V, and 3DMark are cheaper than they have been before. I won't go through all the other games, but you get the point.

Well they're just selling what generally popular.

Bulletstorm wasn't on the Thanksgiving sale. Actually 80% of the games on Steam are on Sale, the ones that are the same are the one's on the Daily Sale. Search a little and you might find some deals that you like.

Have not purchased a single game from the steam store since before the Previous sale and if they keep it up I will not buy from this sale either. Sad to say it but I have only purchased from GMG.
CloneZZ 21/dez./2013 às 18:52
GMG does have better deals sometimes although on this winter sale with the snow globes drop, if you sell it again in the market at the price right now it amounts to additional 4-5 % discount.
well, pretty much EVERY game was on sale
so of course it was the same
EVERY game

They put almost everything on sale every season. There has to be some overlapping.

Sorry nothing YOU want has been on sale, I've gotten things I've wanted. I'm just glad to have a sale so I CAN afford to get something.

I agreed. I've yet to buy a single game from steam so far. I've been buying from GMG and HB which have better sales than here.

Also, keep in mind that Steam isn't the only one deciding what goes on sale -- the publishers have to run with it too (Steam isn't going to sell the game at a massive discount, and pay the difference between what they got from us and what the publisher gets from them out of their own pockets).

It's rather trivial to assume that some publishers try to do a lot of sales, especially for the not-so-popular titles that are repeatedly featured as a Daily Deal every few days.

And yes, other sales tend to be good as well, but there's not that much of a difference. Every shop ultimately deals with the same publisher, and they are unlikely to run with extremely different discounts for each shop.

Maybe other shops set up their sales in a smarter way. I got the "Tomb Raider Collection" from GMG during the autumn sale -- a discount that was slightly better than the usual one, the usual GMG coupon, and I even had some store credit. And it didn't include the latest Tomb Raider game. Steam later had a collection on sale that did include the latest game, but seeing that they make DLCs for that and there's probably more DLCs to come, I'm not sure I would have gotten that one...

I don't know whether it makes a difference, but the shortest deals on Steam are 8 hours ("Flash" and "Community" sales). During the autumn sale, GMG was running with 4 hour deals, which might have given them slightly better discounts.

I'm not currently doing much about the humblebundle store. I do check out the bundles as usual (although my current opinion is that they've gotten worse since the store was made official), but the store doesn't display discounts, just prices. Since all stores operate off the same base price, I just like to check the discounts to decide whether it's even worth taking a closer look.
