Is USD = AUD?
Hello,

I am new here and I have read that there is no AUD (Australian dollars) here on Steam. How would I know how much to pay for my games? I have no credit and I only rely on Steam Cards at EB games and they only sell $23 or $46 Steam voucher cards. (I think AU$23 is equivalent to US$20, not sure)

Lets say a game cost $22 on Steam, I bought a $23 Steam Card but because exchange rate are all over the place how the hell would I buy something that I know the exact price of? How do I know if that $23 Steam card is enough for that game?

Its the holiday season and I would want to trade some of my PS3 games for Steam cards for my new PC. I do not want to be dissapointed by the time I go home to my PC and found out my fund is not enough because I am a few cents off which is something you do not want to feel. I had this trouble with PSN store where I am 5c off and I had to buy another $5 PSN card (not 5c) just to pay that 5c. EB games only offers $23 minimum so if I am off by 1 or 2 cents I will have to buy another $23 Steam voucher card which is not fun.

Thank you.

*EB Games is Australian equivalent to GameStop.

Just check the Steam Store using your current Australian account. Go to the game's Store Page on Steam, and look at its price. What you see is what you get.

The prices are all USD. AUD prices don't exist and this is an Australian account.

EDIT: The prices literally says "USD $19.99", yes it even includes "USD" .

Sorry, I didn't really understand what you meant the first time around.

Let's say that a AU$23 voucher card adds US$20 to your Steam Wallet. This means you'll have $20 to spend. There's no exchange rates whatsoever on the Steam Store.

But lets say you use a credit card (I know I don't have one) or Paypal or something and you only want to fund $20 (AUD) in your account, how will that be converted to USD? Does it use the current exchange rate? The problem with that is exchange rate changes every day, you'll just hope you fund your account in a good day yes?

Why no AUD pricing still?
So I have been with steam for years, and now that steam is a rather big deal in the global games market, I am still seeing US prices on everything, even though I am an aussie steam user, and am restricted by all that that implies, I still see US prices and not AUD prices, now this isn't a huge deal, i'd just like to know why if we are a seperate store, why do we not warrant the effort of having AUD pricing in our limited AU store.
either they haven't got enough complaints, or they are lazy.
They are supposed to roll out a version of the store that support currency this year, as well as about a dozen others. They have given no ETA, only said "in 2014".

The exchange rate only goes one way op. So if you want to put $20 aud on your account. You can't. It will cost you $23 aud to put $20 usd on your account.
AUD currency?
Valve has been adding new currencies to Steam so why not AUD? We exist too you know.
I'm sour at the fact that 99 dollars USD is close to 130AUD, Evolve's PC Monster Race edition is 135USD in Australia which is about 175AUD here, I mean its fine to do the converison but then slap USD on the pricetag and make that the price for Australians? Get real. This is why I would like AUD to be apart of the Steam Store.

AUD has likely been delayed due to the lawsuit from your government
Tony Abbott is a wanker :csgogun::angry:

Which lawsuit btw?
Is it the ACCC one? I believe that is jusified and Valve are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ :p
