The shared games' location is the same as those that aren't shared, so they'd probably work on Gmod too anyway.
The only downside to this is, you need a friend who trusts you enough for the job, and owns the two games. If I were you I'd probably ask people in real life.
If no one reports it, some things will stay up until found. There are not enough people to search and patrol everything everywhere. As you have seen, however, it will eventually be found. The more popular it is, the more people that go to it, the more likely it is to get reported and closed.
Yes, the difference is in the licensing. The way that guide mentions goes against the server's licensing. The family share is a different license with different restrictions.
