Steam Disk Write Error
I have reformatted my PC, and I want to install my games on my HDD. However, every time I try to install a game, it often says 'disk write error'. I am having a hard time installing games. I have tried CS2 and Dota 2 so far, but in the middle of downloading, it will encounter an error.
I have tried all the help and tips I found on Google and YouTube, but nothing seems to work for me.

Any other solutions?

I take it you've done the most obvious and ran checkdisk?
chkdsk /f /r

And the obvious exclude Steam from active protection in the virus scanner?

Because it's often either a disk error, or a write permission error.

Making sure your PC is completely up to date helps too.
From drivers to firmware.

There must have been a reason for reformatting. Could it have been due to drive problems? Try checking the hard drive health:

So your OS as well as Steam and games are all on drive C? Did you install Steam from scratch after installing the OS? Are you near capacity of the drive? Can you check your antivirus/firewall logs to see if Steam processes were blocked?

Run SFC and see if that helps...

When you reformat and reinstall the OS you will have conflict because you are essentially seen as not having permission to alter the HDD which has Steam installed. See my post #2 of the following thread:

I didnt do the excluding one, how do i do this? and also my friend told me that my steam folder is on Read-only that maybe the case of having disk error
Phénomènes Mystiques 12 OCT 2023 a las 7:23 a. m.
All my Steam folders are Read-only.

Exclude Steam in the anti-virus or Win Defender. Also, try attempting to make the Steam.exe run as Administrator.

One time I had a problem where I had lost Admin privileges for some reason on my Windows Account.

Did you juggle the SATA cables? Is it even a desktop? Did you make a new Steam Default Library? SATA cable juggling can cause this issue...

Try exiting Steam. Uninstall Steam through Windows "Apps and Features." Install Steam from store.steampowered.com.

Edit: If drive is okay then I would try using another SATA cable and if possible a different port on the motherboard for the HDD.

Just tried it, and I'm still encountering errors. Could it be a hardware problem? I've also tried playing on other platforms where downloading is smooth, and I played games for 30 minutes with no errors

If it was a problem with your hard drive then SMART based diagnostics such as HD Sentinel would have picked up on it. Steam does a lot of decompression and decoding which are processor and memory intensive. Are your CPU temps during download okay? Have you tested your RAM?

Try updating your network driver. If that doesn't work then try installing Steam in drive C. Can you install games in drive C? Then create a Steam library on the HDD and try installing games there. Otherwise I can't think of anything. This is perplexing.

I have tried installing games on my ssd and it was okay, no errors, but my ssd storage is good for my OS. My temps are good, less than 50. But thanks anyways.
