Payday 2 won't download
Hey guys, so i downloaded Payday 2, but when i went to download it, i got a black screen then the game crashed. I looked around the interwebs for a solution and came upon word of a twitter post by the dev telling of a fix by deleting the assets folder then validating game cache on steam. i did this, but now the game wont go past 0% when downloading, and if i click on play i get "an error occured when downloading payday 2 (connection timed out) a fix i found for this was to delete everything in the steam directory but steamapps and steam.exe. i did this but the problem remained. I have downloaded other and bigger games fine with no problem. can someone please help? (and yes i have restarted both steam and my computer)
EDIT: just tried to download rogue legacy and got the same problem. does this mean its just a problem with my computer?

Try switching the download-region in Steam then re-start your Steam client, ensure the download-region is still switched to a different one then try to continue with the download.

It didn't work. I don't know if this was your intention but now ALL my games have this problem. thanks. if it was't intentional then it's ok. ill keep trying.

This does not cause any issues with your games. You can always switch it back to the closest server location to you anyway...so you did verify the game cache already ? do it again....some have said it takes more than once.

it uninstalled all of my games, and the installing problem applies to all of them. I can not download any of my games and i can't verify the game cache if the game is not installed.

what I suggested to you here did NOT uninstall any of your games...changing download regions does nothing of the sort...have you done this yet ?

what about viruses or other infections ? have you had any other strange activity on your PC?
are you sure your pc is clean and updated completely ?

I'm scanning for virus's now. My computer should be updated though. the only problems i have is my computer will freeze up randomly, though i think thats a problem with the computer itself and not a program or virus on it. will update this post once the scan finishes.

Respectfully, unless I missed it, this would have been helpful to know about earlier...your PC could be infected or you could have other hardware issues (hard drive failing, etc.)...just one more thing do you have ANY of these programs and what is your antivirus you are using ?

Don't feel bad...lots of people have that issue...personally I have used Avira for years here with no Steam issues at all...but I am still worried about the freezing that you mentioned...do the most intensive scan you can do just to be safe and I realize this can take a while...you may want to schedule a disk check also....how old is your hard drive ? I am assuming it is a HDD ?

its an almost brand new computer from avatar. what virus scan program do you recommend?
EDIT: Btw: fixed everything being uninstalled. turns out i had messed around with the location of my steamapps at some point. *shrug*

As I mentioned above, I use Avira personally. It has not failed me yet. Can you please give examples of when your pc freezes ? Is it during heavy use only or any time randomly ?
Ashtray 4 Hire 3 ENE 2015 a las 2:44 a. m.
it usually freezes during gameplay. more often during multiplayer games (I.E. it is terrible with warframe) and every once in a while with single player games (I.E. skyrim)
