Help! Account sent virus!
A Steam friend just messaged me and told me I had sent him a link (which he didn't click, thank goodness) and it came accompanied with a short message telling about a "friend". How did this happen and how can I stop it from happening again! I don't want my computer/Steam account infected with a virus, or to give others viruses.

ESET is on the list...

What do you mean? What could happen to Steam?

Nothing, what everyone seems to be missing is that Anti viruses with real time protection which block files is what disrupts say steam downloads etc, Eset Online Scanner has no real time protection and therefore won't cause any problems with steam.

Do you know who did this? If so start gathering information on the and tell them your going to the authorities and your gonna take them to court fro damages to your PC. If that don't work, let that be a lesson learned. Stop Socializing on Steam. Do it on Facebook, that will leave you Steam Account intact. Change your Steam Account Password.
I have no idea how I got the virus in the first place. I was the one who "sent" the virus anyway. If anything could happen, he would take me to court, but he didn't click the link (thankfully!).

Perhaps Conortroversial is speaking about a totally different scanner than the one I pointed out was on the list...the one on the list is ESET Smart Security....so if that is the case, I appologize here...I just wanted to point it out so users are aware of the list because sometimes they are not...conortroversial is correct about real time protections.

Yeah, I'm using ESET Online Scanner, I think it is different from the one on the list.

I decided to get it. It is pretty good, and the scan showed up clean. I almost wish there had been some malware that I could just remove to get some peace of mind.

You may also want to try Eset Online Scanner if you want a more piece of mind, it's not an full use antivirus but it will run a scan by a different security company which might detect different irregularities.
Thank you so much! I found 6 variants of a trojan horse (win32/systweak)
This is my problem! MSE didn't find it, neither did malwarebytes!

No problem, sometimes they aren't always picked up by your AV.
