Any Game I Play On Steam Shuts Down My Computer
Whenever I play a game after a couple of minutes my computer crashes. And it isn't from overheating. When i play it's fine and running smoothly then all of a sudden it just up and turns off. When I first bought this laptop it ran smooth and there was nothing of the sort. Then slowly overtime after about 40 min of gameplay it turns off. I didn't think much of it at the time because my laptop was close to overheating. Back then it only happened with the games i bought. Now it happens with all my games, on Steam, on Origin, and on games like Onigiri and Smite. And the maximum gameplay I can usually get on games now is 10 min. Also may I add that after the computer shuts off i can turn it back on immediatly. Please if anyone knows what's going on and can find a cheap solution to this problem can you please help.

P.S. And if you can find an article about what is happening and I can use that EXACT same solution listed, don't be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it. Just write the link down in the comments and take your leave. There is no need to close this article or comment rude things when I didn't know about that discussion.

Sounds like your laptop cannot handle the games you are playing on it and over time, after shutting off as you have described here, it starts to take its toll on your hardware....How do you know it is not heat related ? Have you monitored your temps at any time this has happened ? This thread may be better suited to post in the hardware and operating system forum unless we can determine it is software related....more info on your pc specs and what games specifically make this happen would be helpful as I did not click on the link you gave

I just saw your edit here and I just googled "playing games on my lattop shuts it down" and got over eleven million hits...I am not saying this is EXACTLY what is the problem...I was just trying to eliminate things I would consider a "first step" to troubleshooting this issue for you...if you could please post some specs for your laptop maybe we can help you more here...

EDIT...at first you said in your op that is was not because of overheating and then later in your post you said it was "close to overheating"...that is why I was asking you about monitoring the temperatures

What I meant was that I "thought" it was overheating when i said it was close to overheating. That's why i didn't check it.

Ok...sorry if I misunderstood...but what about the other questions I posted here ?

The games that specifically make my computer overheat is Sid Mier's Civilization V as I can only play it for atleast 10 min at a time. Then Guns of Icarus does shut down but it is more time before it shuts down (about 14 min). Team Fortress 2 takes about 20 min until it shuts down so on and so forth. I don't think that hardware related because that I can still play other games such as Minecraft, Browser Hero's and Generals, etc.
Well, what about your pc specs ? When a pc shuts off as I am understanding your issue here is, it is usually because of 1. heat or 2. your power supply is not sufficient to power your hardware..or maybe 3. your hard drive is failing
Also might I add that some of my Steam games don't shut down my computer, and some of my Other games do shut down my computer.

That is related to my post number 6...some of the games are more demanding on your hardware as you may know...and if this has been happening for a while as it seems from your description, then this takes a toll on your hardware over time you see....are you sure there is no dust in the fans ? I repasted my laptop once with Artic Silver 5 and the temps dropped 10 degrees celcius just from that....

EDIT ..i am sorry but i am not clicking on external links here since the problems lately

Here you go.
Have you ever had any Blue Screens Of Death on this laptop since all these issues or does your laptop just simply shut off without any special errors or screens before the shutdown ??? Do yo u have any other problems you can think of that you see when NOT playing games ?

Suprisingly no blue screens of dispear, yet. And no, I can't think of any other problems at the moment
Man, I am still leaning toward heat because it is an APU in this laptop....can you run a program to monitor the actual temps like for example CoreTemp ?

EDIT...or I could be the power supply also but I am not sure of course

Actually I was just going to clean my fan, as I haven't done so since I bought it ( 1 year).

DERP

Anyways all tell you what happens after I clean my fans
ok thanks...one year is not all THAT long for it to get dirty but of course this depends on environment...if you could get a program like I described in my post above to monitor the actual temps then maybe we can eliminate that....as long as the moderators here do not mind because as I said before they may want this in the hardware section of the forums but they can move it if they wish....as you said we are not sure it is hardware related yet
