All of them can be disabled.
Upper left of the client, click "Steam" > "Settings" > "Interface". Un-check "Notify me abount additions..." near the bottom.
Next, go to "In-Game" and un check "Enable Steam browser Overlay" near the top.
If you are getting any other "pop-ups" aside from what I mentioned, then you most likely have malware on your computer.
No, its a Steam pop up window and no malware. dont know how to explain it. At next chance i just picture it.
Almost every instance of a similar issue has been related to adware/malware.
Even if it is a Steam windows popping up, it isn't Steam. Remember, Steam has a built in web browser.
The only pop-ups Steam uses are on start up. Most don't consider the notifications in the bottom righr as pop-ups, but even if you consider them pup-ups, neither should be having an impact on your system like that.
I know I've never gotten such a pop-up and I'm shure very few other have as well.
Yes exsactly that pop up, and everytime it want to apear the game start lagging, but it doesnt open, it just mess up the whole game and couses lags. It will only then open after you close the game. And the lag only apears when the pop up window wants to open, if i close the game and have no lags. there will be no steam pop up window, if i get lags, and close the game, that pop up window opens. After some months of observing im very sure it is related.
You were already told how to disable those, in this thread.
I mean, if Valve could put like a small window in the "browser" it self, but for th etime being, they're OK! :)
So final result: Only The rolling cheese wheel gave a proper answer, other either talk about the small info pops in the lower right corner or talk about not existing malware.
So yes The rolling cheese wheel its that pop up from steam after you close game.
But somehow it tryes to open while the game is runing and couses lags and even crushes the game (dragon age) just to be able to open itself.
I will look in the seeting as you recommned and try to disable it.
@matthew: i clean up my pc regularly, additionaly i got kaspersky wich is one of the best antivir/firewall on the marked, my pc higher middlefield ( so very good to play games and i can even play Planet explorer on max without any lag :p).
No game has lags on my pc when i play normaly, only when that steam pop up window wants to open it somehow couses a loop in the background that tortures the processor and the pc cousing lags till the moment to crush and finaly can open itself.
So if i can deactivate this stupid "after game" pop up the problem should be solved.
Add: I only found one option under the settings which refers to not giving me news and update infos, maybe this will deactivate the pop up after game. Well i dont want news, but i still want my update infos, weird combination steam makes to disabel/enabel.
Most of the time this is just a minor annoyance, as it just causes a second or two of interrupt to the game I am playing. I might miss a click in Civ, or maybe might not cast a spell as timely in World of Warcraft (if I have Steam running in the background). But I also like to play older games on Steam, such as Rome: Total War, which have to be played on a lower resolution for compatibility. When this window tries to pop up while I am playing RTW, it minimizes the game. This is very annoying, especially when I am in the middle of a battle and it does it. I have to reopen the game, wait for it to load the battle back up, and then I can continue.
It still would not be that big of a deal, except for the fact that I have had it try to open this window while RTW was in a loading screen before or after a battle, and it completely crashed the game. I once had it do this to me right after I had had a long, drawn out battle against the AI that I had eventually managed to win by the skin of my teeth even though the odds were against me, and I was going to get a city out of it. As it went to load the campaign map back up after the battle ended, the window tried to open and the game crashed. I lost the entire battle, because you can only save on the campaign map.
I have good AV on my computer and it has detected nothing. I also ran a Malware Bytes scan and it didn't find anything of note either. I have disabled the news/updates notifier and am going to see if that fixes the issue.
EDIT: Disabling the news/updates notifier did not fix the issue. The window that interrupts RTW still pops up. I have disabled every extraneous process I can find. It only seems to happen when I have Steam open, so I am pretty sure it is something with Steam. Not sure if anyone else has encountered this issue and been able to fix it. Maybe it is just something with Windows 10 or something.
