Should I accept random people's request to my friend list
Recently there were some friend requests of some random people on steam who I don't know. My question is will adding stranger to my friends list safe. I have heard people saying ddos attacks and all that things, what are they and how they work.

I add LOADS. There is no harm in it at all as long as you remember a few simple rules:

NEVER, EVER clikc on a link from them or anything dodgy they might send through chat. Talk to them, but leave it at that. There is no good reason for anything else.

If you ever get a chat box pop up from someone claiming to be from Valve, ignore it - Valve NEVER contact you that way.

And if trading, if the trade doesn't fit in a SINGLE OFFICIAL TRADE WINDOW, DON'T DO IT!!!

So, anyone wants to offer you money for an item, or an "outside" the system trade, forget it.

These friends CANNOT do anything to you unless you let them. Keep these simple rules at all times, and you won't have any issues. I've had precisely ZERO in my time here, despite having a few try it on.

Thanks for the information.

Not a problem. :)

There's also one universal maxim especially in regard to trading - if there's an offer that seems too good to be true, IT IS!

So have at it, and happy gaming!

Hard to say what is random.

I reject most of the offers. Usually I add when the person has a higher level, has a lot of gaming time in games which aren't free to play and doesn't seem to have a trouble with english.
Works so far pretty well, nobody so far tried to scam me, though not that I would have any Dota 2 items or something. Wouldn't play that abomination even at gunpoint.
The few who misused my trust and started to handle me as a milking cow for games and stuff found theyselves blocked very fast. God should have mercy on their souls, cause I didn't.

Regarding what crunchyfrog said - I send out a hella number of links to my friends. Im a Photoshop expert and I often need critique or simply "look at it is good" from them. Art is serious business you know.
But yeah, the man said something smart. Bet the ones with some shady things in mind will not send imgur links as I do, heh.

Good points Astraea.

It should indeed be noted that you find your own way of what works for in managing a friends list. Of course, it isn't like real-life friends so much, so you can be more, well, blunt.

Find out what works for you in regard to how much and what you tell them, let them work at establishing a level of trust - although ALWAYS still bear it in mind all the time. There's quite a few on my friends list I've had little communication with, and therefore, despite them being nice and friendly, you cannot throw caution to the wind.

On the other hand, I have some truly lovely people on my friends list who have on their own backs worked out my tastes and ended up buying a game for me they thought I'd like (and getting it spot on).

So, yes, only you can work out what's best for you and your circumstances. But it's always better to be TOO cautious than not enough. You can always make reparations for the former, but NOT the latter.

Just accepted a friend request and within 5 seconds he sent me a link to get a free $50 steam card.
