Steam won't go online, but I have internet access???

Okay, so Steam decides to just not work at all when it comes to playing online for me now. This started a week ago and I've done everything I've seen online to fix it. Reinstalling Steam, refreshing config files, making sure I don't have anything else running in the background. Can anyone help please? I would really appreciate it.

Try flushing your DNS cache

In command prompt, type "ipconfig /flushdns"

Well, I tried that. I did flush it but it still won't go online. Thank you for the suggestion though

As you mentioned, is it ONLY for online gameplay that you have problems ?

Well, not exactly just gameplay. I can play anything I want offline, but if I was to say get on the Store, Friend's List, or try to play online with other people I simply cannot. When I sign into my account, it gives me the Connection Error with Retry and Offline Mode. When I choose Retry I re-enter my password and it'll keep giving me that Connection Error.

try this...

log in using offline mode
go to steam in top left and select "go online"
follow the steps after that and enter your info and see if that works..


or...

if you can get to offline try steam then settings then downloads and change your download region....sorry because I am not sure if you can do this in offline mode but wanted to mention it anyway here

I can change the download region, but it didn't fix my situation. Any bit of information helps though, I'm willing to try almost anything at this point. Thank you for trying at the least. (A weird thing, I got all this Saints Row stuff in my game library and it was never there until today I think)

Ok..since you can chane the region, try this...

Change the region again please
log out and completely exit steam...make sure it is fully stopped
log back in using the above method that seems to work for you and check that the region change stayed like you left it...
try again to go online...

do this more than once for more regions if you can but do it this way each time please....

Did Steam have an update recently? I haven't seen many other people post about it. ...Then again I go to the community once in a blue moon

@TheGivingOne I saw it, and have been trying it out. (I try to stay around my region area, stuff like Vietnam or Canada is out of the picture there). Still having the same issue. If worst comes to worst I'll either re-install Steam again (Okay, I will say now that when I did that the FIRST time I was able to get online. Until I turned my PC off for the day) or wipe my PC out and redo it all. Dang...I just did that during November too, and I haven't done anything dumb, downloading bad crap.

You should check this list fully to make sure just in case there is another program blocking steam in some way...

Checked the list, turned Skype off, and now it works! Thanks dude, I really appreciate the help!
