Can't send message to friend?

How come sometimes when I click on my friends profile, click "Send Message" nothing happens at all? I can't get the chat window to pop up.

How do I chat with my friends???

Are you using a Steam browser? Clicking it in Web browser won't work.

I always use the client. It happens quite a lot. Click "send message" and no window pops up. I don't get it

Perhaps you already have the chat open with the user. Have you tried sending a message by clicking 'View friend list', then finding your friend?

ah that works, cheers. There is a glitch when you do it from the profile

I've just tried it and it seems to work for me, not sure why it doesn't work for you. But at least you've found another method :P

Send a message from the Friends tap at the top. Friends -> View Friends -> Send Message

This happened to me so I turned on my 2nd monitor and there it was.

He obviously got his question answered and indicated as such twice, yet people still comment on possible solutions. I guess building a PC doesn't give you common ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense.
