Why do I have to redownload something when reinstalling it?
I mean this really is the most retarded thing I've seen Steam do, and they've done a lot of retarded ♥♥♥♥.

I recently kind of broke my Skyrim game with mods so I went to reinstall in. I uninstalled it on Steam but to reinstall it I have to redownload the files again which is going to take an hour and a half. Why? This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous, why aren't the files already installed on my computer to be easily reinstalled?

Because when you have uninstalled it you deleted them....
What i think you needed to do is not to uninstalled but to Verify local files...
(Right click the game → Properties → Local Files → Verify Local files...)

But uninstalling something isn't deleting it, it's just uninstalling it. This just seems like something Steam need to actually clarify with people. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots.

No
Steam dose not have an install file, what you download is the game, the files them self
Uninstalling is deleting these files

And they even supply you with a really awesome tool (Verify Local files) that cut the drug of even doing it
So honestly i recommend you learn what you talking abut...

An uninstaller, also called a deinstaller, is a utility software designed to remove other software or parts of it from a computer. It is the opposite of an installer.

Consider in the days before Steam uninstalling something didn't mean deleting every trace of it off your computer, they could have made this a lot clearer when uninstalling something. So yeah I will call Steam ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots, because they are.

Ok so I guess this is some kind of troll thread? When you uninstall something you must reinstall it...before steam it was discs and you would have to put the disc in your computer and reinstall. Since you have no disc when you buy a game on Steam you will have to redownload the files. Uninstalling means removing the game from your computer...this is nothing new.

Even before Steam, uninstalling meant deleting software from your PC.

Too complicated for my old brain. All I want to do is play a game that was already installed on my pc and not have to sit around for an hour and a half waiting for it to be reloaded. REALY SUCKS.

It's not redownloading.

Last time there was a game on a disc was about 10 years ago when this thread was still relevant.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
