Lag/ Rubberbanding issues with good ping.
Hi, I was looking for some help troubleshooting my lag issues with tf2.
Here is whats going on:
-I have constant short bursts of lag.

-These lag bursts will often only go back so far as to undo weapon switching, make me take a step back, or, on a rare occasion, freeze me for a second or two.

-This lag is unaffected by ping.

-It is not display lag as I can attempt to move and everything attempts to move like normal, just bound to its position.

-It started from the steam-pipe update onward, and has gotten worse(it may be a different issue if valve fixed the steam-pipe bug)

-I assumed it was packet loss but net graph says otherwise (I think)

-both I and my father have at-least the largest if not all of the lag-spikes at the same time when playing tf2 on the same connection.

- it primarily only affects tf2. (Though i have experienced this kind of lag when playing trove)

I have 3 screenshots on my profile which have net-graph 4 enabled at different times during or after a spike.

I numbered the screenshots backwards....oops.
____________________________________________________________________________
Things I know:
-In all of the pics my ping was passable, No where near high enough for these issues.

-In screenshot 3 I had lagged whenever there was any red above the blue line at the bottom.
Additionally, I am unsure of this but I may have also lagged during the small gaps on the far right part of the graph.

-In screenshot 2 I noticed some odd gaps so I snapped a pic, They may be unrelated.

-In the first screenshot, during the large amounts of red that went over the blue line, I had freezes that lasted much longer than usual.

What I have tried:
-Set up a netconfig

-Removed my custom folder

-Tried on two different comps

-verified game cache

-shut down comp fully and tried again

-I currently have no antiviral software other than windows defender

-Joined servers with latency around 100

-Joined servers with latency around 1000

-Tried to run some programs like win-mtr(looked normal)

-I used blizzards looking glass, with no interesting results.

I am at my wits end right now, I have been trying to fix this issue for quite a while. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

Specs:

-Belkin router with a Motorola modem.

-Comp has no wireless card so I am wired into the router. (The cord's clip broke but i doubt that a loose connection is doing this.)

-I use roadrunner and do have good internet.(TWC, I think they are the same...)

-Speed-test link http://www.speedtest.net/result/3871460681.png

-Actual PC specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Memory 6.2 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

If anyone could help me I would be greatly appreciative. :)

Old thread, just wondering if you're still having these issues.

I am not anymore. All that was required was a full router reeboot. Eg. Unplug everything and wait a while. Then plug everything back in.

I'll try that, thanks.

No, my issue was far more...transient. But generally that does.

This is a 5 year old thread. Network issues can be caused by a multitude of things. Make your own discussion if you need help.
all you have to do, is restart your game
