What can I actually play on my poor excuse for a laptop
I understand people could list every really old game that was half decent from 10 years ago and earlier but what games that are fairly recent and decent could I actually play on a dell Inspiron N5110 (http://euro.dell.com/uk/en/corp/Dell-Laptops/inspiron-15r-n5110/pd.aspx?refid=inspiron-15r-n5110&s=corp). I naively bought this laptop about 5 years ago thinking it has a dedicated graphics card (NVidia Geforce GT 525M) so I should be able to play fairly recent games on medium settings. Well obviously that isn't true.
I tend to like RPGs (not mmos), action style games and indie games.
I'm guessing I'm probs good to go on most indie games but could I get away with the witcher 1 or 2 on halfway decent settings for example.
I recently downloaded a couple of demos, payday 2 (struggled to run on low settings) and arkham knight wich started out ok but then as my laptop got hotter it started to struggle.
Any advice on what is realistic would be appreciated, I don't want to spend money on game even if it is really cheap only for it to look awful and not run on anything but the lowest settings.
Thanks

*Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 2: Retribution -RTS -singleplayer and active multiplayer
*DoTA 2 (may not run if CPU is too slow, check requirements) -F2P MOBA
*Morrowind GoTY Edition -singleplayer RPG

Easy answer - have a look at my account.

Most (although not all) are played on my old MSI laptop with a much lesser graphics card (ATI HD545v).

Thanks, i presume the witcher is out of the question then? Buying a new computer isn't really an option when my money is spent on travelling and going out. A decent gaming pc is pretty low down on priorities to spend several hundreds of pounds on.

Well, you should be OK with the first Witcher (as I can play it on my lesser-specced lappy). I would say no to 2, or maybe borderline. Haven't really tried it on mine, so can't say for sure.

You're welcome.

I'm a realist, frankly. I don't hold with the attitude that some PC users have, where anything other than top spec makes you some sort of pariah :)

As I said, do have a gander at the games on my account. There's only a very small handful that I don't play on the laptop, as the majority are bought for that purpose.

Of course, you may be playing at 1600x900 or 1280x720 in some cases, but it's really up to you what suits you.

try upgrading your video card, they can be as little as $50 or as high as $500
