The Steam refund policy.
Has anybody recently recovered a refund for a new game that is not what they thought it should be. The reason I ask is I very recently purchased "Life is fudel" and I realised it was not what the video was displaying. Now I suffer from Dyslexia and find I don't always understand the small print and long words and phrasing is always a problem for me. However back to my problem, I asked stem if I could have a refund under the 14 day returns policy, but I have been refused because I have played the game for over 2 hours, So I have a game I can't follow and I just wonder around an island. I have explained to steam that It is not what I expected and I would like a refund. They sent a reply which I beleive is an automated reply as I have tried 3 times to gain a refund and I keep getting the same message. So my question is there anybody else out there that has had a similar propersition with a new game they have bought, and if so how did they go about getting a refund and did they get a refund.
I have no idea how I am going to get my money back, so if there is anyone out their that can give me some advice I would be very gtateful. Thank You.

Next time, don't just look at pictures/videos; read the full game descriptions. May help to read user feedback or go on places like Youtube or Twitch, etc... and watch others playing the game.


Even the brief description kinda tells me that u didn't even read that much. As it says:

Which just by this u can tell it is a game where u have to craft and build up your character, etc. So of course u start with basically nothing. That is the challenge of the game.

I suggest cancelling the Paypal dispute, if it escalates to the point where Paypal refund your money then Valve will block your account from making purchases in future, as they would consider this to be fraud.

Mislead? HOW?
There is a gigantic blue banner about the game being Early Access. You got plenty of screenshots to look at, you got reviews to read, you got broadcast to see how it actually plays in real time and you can read up on the forums.

You not wanting to look into any of that is your problem and not Valve. As Valve have put all the stuff available for people to access.

The way I see is you bought a bad Early Access title and now you regret it. Next time read up on a game before buying it.

I will do exactly what has been recomended, yes I should have looked further and yes I have had my fingers burnt. And yes I am a stupid so and so for not looking further down the list before I rushed into the purchase. I agree with everything that everyone has said and I am going to have to live with this mistake to my loss. But I would still like to know if anybody out their has had a refund after the 2 hour clause has lapsed. This is what I am trying to look at, I know from the genral feel of feed back that I was a fool and that if I shoot myself in the foot then I have no right to claim it hurts. I do understand that I have been a right numpty and I can't put it all down to my condition. Because my condition doesn't force me to purchase items that are not what they first seem to be. I suppose I'm trying to find out if anybody has gone down a simular path and yet managed to get a refund. Or is it that no matter what the situation is regarding your refund request it is written in stone that you go over the 2 hour time limit then you can kiss a refund good by. Again I thank you all for your imput and you have made me see the mistakes I have made and I hope not to make again. I will review my pay-pal dispute, and again. Thank You for your help and advice.

You need to simply end the Paypal dispute. If it results in a charge-back, Steam will lock u out of your Steam account, end of story.

Let such a purchase u disliked in the end, be a lesson for next time. Read/Review about the product, like you would before buying anything. I mean you don't just go to a car lot, look at a car and go "yea I'll take that". You want to know everything about it, details, etc. before buying.

I do think i heard on someone getting a Refund, even that i cant point you to there, as by know its going to be burred somewhere with all the Refunds treads going around

Abut Paypal, they cant really do much, if Valve is not giving you back the funds, there for the only thing they can do is a charge back, that will result in account lock

So i recommend at least if possible, add a line to Paypal saying that you do not want a Charge back what ever they do

Thanks to everyone for their comments and advice, as I might have mentioned I'm new to the gamer scene and I'm still learning. I now understand that I was an idiot for not checking out the game reviews and for that I will just have to bite the bullet. As for pay-pal I am going to withdraw my dispute from the reselution centre. I don't want to risk been looked out for any reason. So I have accepted my mistake and hope to learn from the errors of my ways. So once again I wish to thank you all for your input and advice.

Thank you for your response I will no for next time, just to try and see if there is a wayof getting a refund or game swap I have tried contacting Valve the sister company and explained the issue to them. I have also raised it as an issue with Pay-pal and put it through there resilution centre to see if I can get it resolved this way then it might all work out OK. Thank you for your support.
Make sure Paypal will not charge back, if you do that then your account will get locked

Hi Black Blade, You were so right for some reason Steam have now locked my account, even though I cancelled the Pay-pal dispute, and even when I sent them a message from Pay-pal explaining. That it was my mistake and I appologised, and even since then I have bought a few new games. I checked with my Pay-pal account and it said that you have no claims i dispute, but for some reason now my account is locked and I can't purchae any new games and also I have a red message at the top of my steam page saying " You have an alert from Steam support" and when I click on it it say that its sending me an email and If i don't get it I can ask for a resend. I have now made several attempts to send the email with no joy. And I can't get itouch with Steam support at all. Can you please help me in any way I don't no where to go now to try to get this sorted out. Its so frustrating.

You have to contact Steam Support ot sort it out. Only they can release the suspension

I've Tried but I cant get itouch with steam support They sent an email asking to get intouch but I can't get them to respond, I have no idea what to do now.

You have to wait. They can take weeks to respond during busy periods.

Just do as you are instructed to do, then wait. It's lack of patience and understanding that put you in this situation to begin with.

I understand what you are saying and yes it might be my fault. But I cancelled my dispute before any action could be taken, and since I cancelled the dispute they allowed mr to make purchasess but now over the last few days I've had this red banner saying I have an alert but I can't get intouch with them to question the alert. I understand what you say about taking weeks to respond but they have to let me respond so they can inturn respond. this is what my problem is I cant get intouch at all.

Again, check your account Email address is correct.

If it is, and you can't see an Email from them in your inbox or spam folder, create a support account and open a support ticket:
