Unable to purchase items in-game CS:Go
I recently purchased 100 cases from the community market and then proceeded to add funds to my steam wallet to pay for keys in game in order to open the cases and I get this error message: "There seems to be an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."

This is not my first time opening cases or buying keys from the in-game shop of CS:GO but this is the first time I've had this issue. I've tried every fix in the book and I submitted a support ticket 2 days ago that still hasn't been replied to.

Any ideas?

Same here :/

Here's what I've done to try and fix it:

- Restarted PC.
- Deleted everything in steam folder except steam.exe and steamapps folder.
- Switched back and forth between steam beta updates and non-beta updates.
- Called my credit card company to make sure the funds were verified.

I can't think of anything else that I can do to try and fix it. I really don't want to re-install steam because that will make me have a 7 day ban on the marketplace.

On my game transactions section in my steam account, it shows the attempted purchase of keys but it just says failed next to it.

This is pretty retarded if you ask me. I paid for something and I can't get it back. So now I just have $250+ sitting in my steam wallet that I can't use. Pretty cool steam.

Reinstalled steam completely and that didn't fix it either.

I had the same problem and I got this email from steam support.
A staff member has replied to your question:

Hello -----,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

We apologize for the delay.

Even though you may have attempted similar steps already, please re-test the issue now using the methods below:

Note: These processes will not affect your currently installed games.

If using a PC
- Please exit Steam, and navigate to the …\Steam\ directory (by default this is C:\Program Files\Steam - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).
- Delete all of the files in this folder except: Steam.exe and the \Steamapps\ and \Userdata\ folders
- Restart your computer and test the issue again.

If using a Mac:
- Exit Steam and go to the folder Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam
- Delete all of the files in this folder except for SteamApps and Userdata.
- Restart your computer and test the issue again.

For all operating systems:
- Ensure that you are not using any IP proxy or VPN software. These applications must be completely deactivated when purchasing through Steam.

If the issue still persists, try using a web browser (Internet Explorer 7 or higher on PC, or Safari if on a Mac) to make the purchase using http://store.steampowered.com/

Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

Basically I did what they said for PC but it didn't work, however when I reinstalled steam afterwards it did work. Deleting and reinstalling steam completely didnt work for me, but when I followed the directions and left the 3 folders and then reinstalled steam, it did work.
