There was an error creating a new topic: undefined

So in the past I've encountered the "unable to post, there was a communications error" error issue before which has always been annoying... But today after 7 years I was greeted with a new red text stating as the title is labeled:
"There was an error creating a new topic: undefined" when attempting to make a post in a gamehub discussions board. I have tried restarting steam to no avail.. Though it seems I was able to post here (if this thread does indeed work). Any idea what is causing this? And what could possibly fix it?

I've experienced it once (when I wasn't even creating a new topic), and it was at a period of congestion, on Saturday before last.

That's the best assumption I can offer - just one of the many foibles of congestion. I wouldn't be surprised if it's popped up in part due to the sheer number of users now.

I can make discussions for other games I own. But one inparticular now I can't. I have never once been rude, never cursed and always kept my discussions constructive. Could it be that the devs of the game decided to not allow me to make topics on their discussions anymore or is it just Steam bugging out? Hard to tell... but I hope it's just the ladder.

For such issues, you can always contact a mod and ask them to check.

If you were banned, you would know it. You get an alert saying you were banned, with the post that was banned, and a reason. Aswell as you'd have a dark red "(banned)" next to your name on that particular forum.. It should also not provide you with even an input field, saying something similar to "You are not allowed to post on this forum" or something instead...

All in all, if you have to question if you're banned, then you're not. You would know ;p. That being the case, it's a steam error.

Thanks very much for that Lumi. I didn't know that cuz I've never been banned before. So we can rule that out as a possibility. I guess it's just a random steam problem. Most likely temporary.

Have this same issue and it really pisses me off because i can't start a new disscusion about a pretty bad issue in arma 3. I cant post on the arma 3 forum either because it says i dont have the permissions to post a new thread for some reason.

Examining the results of my logs, it appears that I am getting the following:

"Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden)" when attempting to call what I am assuming (browser debug isn't telling me) a POST to the steamcommunity.com/forum/(forumid)/General/createtopic/0 URI.

I think it's a temporary Steam error and happens randomly to different users. Mine is back to normal now. Just give it some time and try again. I waited after routine maintanence on Tuesday and everything is okay on my end now.

Same problem, tried to create a new thread on a group I'm in, have the necessary permissions to do so.
