It could be a whole number of things, but the best bet to do in such circumstances is to list some possibiities and try to eliminate them.
My first thoughts are dodgy drivers - if your keyboard's USB, a dodgy driver that keeps switching the mouse on and off will mess with the USB hub and therefore your keyboard. So, first thing I'd do is see if there's either newer drivers, or some custom ones someone's made. Might involve a fair bit of Googling though.
Secondly, possiby the most common issue - bad USB connection. USB connectors are great in that they're lovely and universal. However, from an engineering standpoint, it's a bit weak, as they rely on friction and force to maintain contact. Over time, that will weaken.
If the USB connector doesn't fit VERY snugly and can be moved at all whilst connected, it could simply be down to this (I've had it a number of times myself - your clicking can cause small virations or movement, enough to mess with it).
There is a quick and easy bodge you can do if this is affecting you - either take the mouse USB plug and VERY VERY gently squeeze the metal shroud (by less than a millimeter) so it makes the connection as tight as possible. You can alternatively bite the thing (as I've done) but for obvious reasons I wouldn't recommend it.
That's the most obvious things I can think of at the moment. See how you get on with them, and get back.
