Just don't expect too much from valve and all your problems will be solved. Never trust'em again.

I have made my Drive D - where Steam is installed - an exception. Trend Micro won't scan it, so virus scan is not stopping. Lets hope everything starts working like normal. Hope Steam fixes this issue, a lot of people are having it.

Valve won't fix Trend Micro crashing.

True, because they've created too many bugs already and decided to keep making new ones instead of fixing things to hard to fix. Forever newb company - valve...

See the house owner and visitor analogy. In the Steam folder, Valve are the house owner. It is their folder and they keep it the way they want it.
Trend Micro is a visitor in the Steam folder. When someone comes to your house and says "Dude, I don't like the way you run it, let me reorganize everything", do you agree?

^^^

Everything was working fine, until a week ago. I did a complete reboot of Windows 8.1, back to factory settings; what else could it be?

My bet is a Trend Micro update that they screwed up.

Let's start from the beginning:

1) steam is not my home and will never be
(even metaphorically or hypothetically), why? See point 2),

2) steam is a programmatic garbage,

3) valve should care about customers and AT LEAST TRY to fix most issues instead of creating new ones.

Above points are making your quoted example useless plus the fact WE PAY valve AS A CUSTOMERS AND THEY SHOULD SERVE US - NOT VICE VERSA.

Maybe this time, you'll understand and try to face the truth.

Regards.

Look up "analogy" on Wikipedia.

Yes, just trying to show you it was not a proper analogous example, which is bugged the same, as steam you advertise and defend so bad.

I can forgive your un-knowledge, if you're an american.

In this example, Steam is not your home, you are Valve. The Steam folder is Valve's home just like your home is your home.

Ok, but:

- we pay'em,
- they don't pay us,
- we need some PC protection,
- we have no clear information,
- such compatibility issues should be dealt on Steam Install Process
(steam should detect stuff, while installing to avoid situations, when people are spending money to face problems only, because valve are lazy scums / scams).

So still... I understand your example, but it needs some improvements ^^.
