Need Help, Graphics Card Got Problems
I have a really old dell that used to run on windows xp. Although this dell was old, it used to be able to run games pretty well. Because it was windows xp, I decided to update its os to windows 7. Once I got windows 7 installed it was factory, so all my drivers and stuff was gone and I couldn't play games like I used to. Luckily, I found a wa to download all the up to date drivers I needed for my computer. I ran tests on Windows Experience Index to see what my computer is rated after finding all the drivers:
Processor: 2.7
Memory(RAM): 2.8
Graphics: 1.9
Gaming Graphics: 1.0
Primary hard disk: 5.3
I was a bit skeptical about my gaming graphics score thinking that it was just because it was old. So to test my gaming graphics a bit more, I downloaded a unity flash player game to see whether it would work. Then this happened:

DirectX9 GPU (Shader Model 2.0) is required.
Your GPU (Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller)
only supports Shader Model 0.0

I tried searching online to see whether I could fix it, but it just said to install the latest driver and direct x. So I did it, but the same error happened again. So I decided to check my graphics card information it says that my shader model is 0.0.

Can anyone help me solve this thing? Is there some kind of shader model program I'm suppossed to download?

I don't need a new GPU. Before I installed windows 7, my computer was able to run games without lag at medium settings.

If you could humor me, could you open the "Run" dialog, type "dxdiag" and hit enter, and in the new window go to the "Video" tab and find your GPU? The error message seems more than a little odd.

Going to 7 from XP can be tricky when it comes to drivers and hardware. Where did you get the drivers from for the GPU ?

EDIT...this page from what moeroris posted says they do not exist for Windows 7 for your GPU if I am reading it correctly....

I got my drivers from intel, since I use a Dell Optiplex GX60.

But like The Giving One says, the Windows 7's Latest Driver is --

Intel has no plans to release new XPDM drivers for these products:

The problem isn't in the OS version difference, more like in the fact that the XP was 32bit and you went to a 64bit system.

Nothing just problems with getting 64bit drivers for outdated hardware, especially if it was a basically discountinued type of onboard graphics chip.

Either way, there is no GPU driver for either the x86 nor the x64 platforms of Windows 7.

so sorry I miseed where he said he had 32 bit and went to 64 bit so of course you are also right. Thanks for that Astraea. I just said it can be tricky.

EDIT...hmmm..now he said he is still 32 bit. LOL...

I've searched around the internet for quite some time to help me with this, and some people who have similar problems like me have had their problems resolved by simply getting the latest drivers. Unlike them, I did get the latest drivers, but I still have problems with running any games.

There is no drop down selection for win 7 from that link so what did you select ?
