Need Help, Graphics Card Got Problems

I have a really old dell that used to run on windows xp. Although this dell was old, it used to be able to run games pretty well. Because it was windows xp, I decided to update its os to windows 7. Once I got windows 7 installed it was factory, so all my drivers and stuff was gone and I couldn't play games like I used to. Luckily, I found a wa to download all the up to date drivers I needed for my computer. I ran tests on Windows Experience Index to see what my computer is rated after finding all the drivers:
Processor: 2.7
Memory(RAM): 2.8
Graphics: 1.9
Gaming Graphics: 1.0
Primary hard disk: 5.3
I was a bit skeptical about my gaming graphics score thinking that it was just because it was old. So to test my gaming graphics a bit more, I downloaded a unity flash player game to see whether it would work. Then this happened:

DirectX9 GPU (Shader Model 2.0) is required.
Your GPU (Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller)
only supports Shader Model 0.0

I tried searching online to see whether I could fix it, but it just said to install the latest driver and direct x. So I did it, but the same error happened again. So I decided to check my graphics card information it says that my shader model is 0.0.

Can anyone help me solve this thing? Is there some kind of shader model program I'm suppossed to download?

I've searched around the internet for quite some time to help me with this, and some people who have similar problems like me have had their problems resolved by simply getting the latest drivers. Unlike them, I did get the latest drivers, but I still have problems with running any games.
Where I got my drivers: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/optiplex-gx60/drivers

They don't list Windows 7 drivers there... the problem seems to be that you are using a Windows XP driver on a Windows 7 operating system.

Yea, XP is selected by default so maybe that is what he did. But I am surpised he was able to install it without errors or warnings.

I used windows xp service pack 3 compatibility mode.

Hugh ? What did you do ? You installed XP drivers using this compatability mode for a win 7 OS ? So you installed an XP driver in compatability mode for....XP ?

yes, just right click the exe and go to properties and change compatibility mode.

It is already an XP driver. there is no compatability mode for win 7 which is what you would need. LOL

They won't work, I'm sorry. You would need drivers meant for Windows 7, which do not exist.

You installed a windows 7 OS onto your PC that had XP on it before. Here you are saying you downloaded an XP driver from dell and installed it using compatability mode for windows XP when the OS at that point was windows 7.

That makes no sense but if it installed without errors or warnings then that is most likely your problem. It is not the correct driver as there is not one.

Windows XP mode is emulation for Windows XP. I'm not sure it would help, and it has a lot of overhead. Plus your processor needs to support virtualization. A better solution would be to invest in a dedicated video card that supports Windows 7.

What if I installed windows xp as a second operating system?

As Giving pointed out above, Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows XP. It's not a good idea to go backwards. Even if you did install Windows XP, the drivers would only work under Windows XP.
