If Windows 7, you could try a previous versions -tab of the save game folder to see if you can dig up a local save file that isn't THAT old.
I'd almost suggest to switch off Uplay's cloud saving as that tends to become a problem anyway.
As far as I know you can't dig up an older Cloud -save either on Uplay; nor will something like system recovery do anything if your only local save file is that of Day 1.
I don't really have much to say.
This doesn't give the brightest light of hope either.
Since it is, Steam also generally offers no refunds.
I get your anger though; but to be fair - you did buy a game that has negative reviews regarding its stability. You made that call.
While I'm aware that this is a pointless thing to point out now possibly; in the future - do disable Uplay Cloud Synchronization to be safe; unless you're going to switch computers and you'll need the save on the new one.
But if the dates are different choose the one that happened before the crash, unless its too late.
