Any Debit Card in malaysia can purchase Steam Wallet/game?? [Solved]

Currently , CIMB and Maybank block the transaction from steam , The offical say:

'Basically if the sites are non 3D secured sites, the bank will decline the transaction. It means that these merchants do not have the One Time Password authentication /MSOS (Maybankard Secure Online Shopping). The decision was made based on the security reason and to protect our customers' account from any fraudulent attempt. We place security as our utmost priority. '

So still have another ways to puchase steam wallet??
(P.S) I cannot apply credit card becuz I am a student.

You need go to the CIMB office and ask them to unblock it for online purchasing , they willl guide you go to atm mechine and one by one to teach u :)

Thanks for the reply. It was not a recurring issue thankfully. I assume that the reason behind it was that the system was undergoing maintenance at the time. It was confusing since I could log in and check my credentials unlike Maybank2u where if it was under maintenance you could not access your account at all. Haaven't had an issue since.

hi, i'm from malaysia too. since when the problem started? As I still can use CIMB to buy games *recent purchase on October-November* but today I can't do transaction via steam. Low internet connection maybe?

My CIMC Debit card can't purchase anything...So I used Hong Leong debit card ! It works!!

@XBOCT apparently CIMB has block any transaction when you using debit card for online purchases. You need to this if you want to use the service again:

maybank also did the similar thing.. but unfortunately, maybank blocks any transaction or service related to gaming, eventhough you enable it:

Please be informed, any transaction related to gaming, either gaming platform, gaming base or gaming merchant, once system detected it is related to gaming, system will automatically decline the transaction.

Maybank does not have any option to unblock any gaming related transaction for security reason to protect and prevent our customers' account from any fraudulent attempt.

Alternatively, you may use credit card(if any) or refer to any other available payment method offered at the said merchant/ website.

I called and they unlocked it for me. I bought a game, however, when I tried to buy another game, the payment was rejected. Is it a one time per purchase thing? Do I have to call every time I want to buy something? This is so stupid.

I am using Kwik so I called and opted in. I bought a game on Steam and Disgaea 5 on PS4 in the span of an hour. Can confirm you DONT need to call each time you want to purchase. You just have to opt in once.

for Kwik account do we need to wait 24 for account activation after opt-in for online transaction?

Just contact your bank and tell them to allow the transaction. Simple Smile :D
All banks should be able to allow a transaction. You just need to tell them to. If they can't do it, you just got a s.h.i.t.t.y bank or they are too lazy to help a customer. Remember customers always right.
