Sream causes my brand new gaming PC to freeze
I have used steam for years and have hundreds of games and up until now have had no problems. I just purchased a new Cyberpower PC windows 8, 16g ram, gtx 980 gfx with 4g ram.

Now whenever I play a game from steam or try to download from steam or even just leave the steam program running it will freeze up my PC within 10 min. and force me to do a hard restart.

This only happens with steam.no other program cases it.

When I say freeze up I mean lock up completely. no sound no mouse movement no key response nothing. can anyone help?

It is a lot of programs I know...I always start by recommending that list for users to know about when helping here...I do admit to using MSI afterburner but that is the only one I have...so far, I have not had any problems...I have two PCs here...one for gaming and one for other stuff from that list so that helps in my case...;)

Cyberpower really? What a waste of money. You can build a system for half of the price instead of blowing it at Cyberpower though. Just saying.. custom building is the way to go instead of having a pre built system. I never really liked Windows 8 though. I would have bumped up more ram because you have a 980 video card. Just more memory head room.

Yea Kal El is right...this is actually the second thread just today that I have been in where a Cyberpower PC was the OP's PC....it was junk in the other one also. He was getting random shutdowns and it was brand new....
