Computer blocking 'VAC System'
For the past couple of days I've been getting disconnected twice from CS:GO Competitive matches, with a resulting message. -- 'An issue with your computer is blocking the VAC system. You cannot play on secure servers'. I wasn't able to reconnect or else I would be given the same message and a link on how to fix it. I followed the guide on how to fix this problem, and it actually did work, but unfortunately I was banned for two hours because I didn't connect in time. Because it happened again, I'm currently banned for 24 hours (a little bit less now).

Now, I do use a third-party application called 'Razer Game Booster', which basically allows the game to run better. I have 'WDSecurity' to prevent unwanted people from accessing files. 'CCleaner' to clean up the computer and boost a little bit and a program that prevents malware from getting into the computer, from 'Malwarebytes Corporation'.

My main questions are how do I prevent this from happening again and what can I do to fix this? Possibly, if it's not violating any rule, maybe I could get my cooldown reset. -- because if this does happen again, it'll be a 7-day cooldown.

Additional information;
- Razer Game Booster installed to computer.
- CCleaner installed to computer.
- Malwarebytes Corporation program installed to computer.
- https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2117-ILZV-2837 guide followed.
- No hacks, mods or cheats installed onto computer.
- Several community made CS:GO maps installed.
- Windows 8 Dell computer.
- Requesting a competitive cooldown reset.
- Problem occured once already, this is the second time it has come up.
- I have stopped using Razer Game Booster since the cooldown.

(this was copied and pasted from my app. to steam, I know the community cannot reset my cooldown)

Am I correct in thinking that the "WD" stands for "Western Digital", and that it is some sort of file-locking program? If so, I'd point to that as the likely culprit. See if disabling it temporarily helps.

nah it shouldn't, because every steam program and every steam file has access to the whole computer. So does the downloaded CSGO app. I may just reinstall steam and reinstall CSGO.

Hey, I managed to fix this problem by uninstalling iobit start menu 8 (some guy mentioned on a random forum I found). Some other guy told me this worked for him either so if you happen to use it, give it a try uninstalling it with its components, maybe even restarting your PC too. Oh and try playing deathmatch, it'll join you to a secure server either, so you can try it out there without getting banned for a week. If you can manage to play like 2-3 full matches without this problem then you're clear to go competitive.

This has happened to me before. The first step is to move your steamapps folder onto your desktop. This is where all your games are. Then delete ALL of the other files, including steam.exe. Go and redownload steam on the website and install. Then move your steamapps folder back into the Steam folder, which is usually located in C: > Program FIles x86 > Steam. Hope this helped:balloonicorn:

Don't worry, I have the exact same programs installed as you, except the Razer Game Booster

I don't know what causes the conflict, but I keep it uninstalled for now.

I just did a MAJOR uninstallation, I uninstalled everything from steam including register files! I didn't uninstall steamapps though. Thanks for the feedback, haven't tested a VAC server yet.

Reading this article, it seems to be alright with steam. (not on the list) -- https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289

After reinstalling steam and Counter-strike, manually enabling DEP, and disabling Bitdefender, I still seem to get the problem. Today I'm going to retry all the steps that Steam has offer. P.S HELP!

I have been dealing with this for over a month and Dell may have helped me figure it out. This is what I did that appears to have fixed my issue. It appears the bcdedit solutions may not work from an elevated prompt with BitLocker or Secure Boot protection on. This is my reply in my support ticket:

I noticed many on the web and Steam community experienced the same error when applying the fixes you provide; one being " 'bcdedit' is not recognized as an operable program or batch file" and the other “an error has occurred setting the element data. The value is protected by secure boot policy and cannot be modified or deleted.” The solution for me was to do the steps described above by Dell as it was the bios setting blocking the bcdedit changes Steam required for VAC.

I suggest adding this line, "Note: Before setting BCDEdit options you might need to disable or suspend BitLocker and Secure Boot on the computer in the bios settings." to https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2117-ILZV-2837&l=english

I believe this would rectify many of the support tickets relating to this issue. You may even want to provide this following link since it clearly states that with Bitlocker/Secure Boot on that an elevated command prompt will not be enough to apply bcdedit changes. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff542205(v=vs.85).aspx

I would also like to add that after you apply the fixes that you restart your computer and turn BitLocker or Secure Boot back on. ;)

That is a good post and thanks for the help. This thread maybe should have been in the VAC forum also but your post surely should I would say.
